Health officials will be on hand to test vision and hearing. 14-2S PUBLIC NOTICE EARTHFILL DYKE PROJECT NONQUON PROVINCIAL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENTAREA - Ducks Unlimited (Canada) and the Labrador Retriever Club (Ontario), through the Ministry of Natural Resources, Lindsay District, are proposing to construct a series of earlhfill dykes in a wetland system on Lot 19, Concession 11 of Scugog Township (formerly Reach Township). The wetland drains, primarily through seepage, northward to the Layton River, which in turn drains into Lake Scugog via the Nonquon River. The earlhfill dykes would permit Ducks Unlimited (Canada) to control water levels bëhind the dykes which would improve the ability of the wetland to act as waterfowl habitat. The Labrador Retriever Club (Ontario) is interested in producing a larger, higher quality area in which to hold retriever trails than presently exists at the site. The area flooded by the proposed Labrador Retriever Club (Ontario) project is relatively small compared to the Ducks Unlimited (Canada) project, but would still provide additional habitat for waterfowl. The area is presently being used for retriever trails by the Labrador Retriever.Club (Ontario), and as an environmental education area by the Durham Board of Education, through an agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources. The joint project is being planned under the Ministry of Natural Resources approved class environmental assessment lor Dams and Dykes, and is located entirely on Crown Land.
