Through the Chamber of Commerce office, we learn that the local plant of Canadian Canadian Canners will definitely not operate this year. Stocks of some canned goods are filling storage facilities in Ontario. Incidently, the plant here is for sale as it is considered considered obsolete for any future operations of the company. There is a faint hope that if and when conditions warrant it, a new, modern plant will be erected here. There is every hope of having Bowmanville's South- view Golf Course open for play by June 15th. The weather, of course, will be a determining factor which could change this date a week either wav. The necessity of taking immediate action on plans for the new wing to the hospital was emphasized at the meeting meeting of the board of directors of Memorial Hospital held last week. Ivan Hobbs, the chairman, chairman, pointed out that although at present there is satisfactory accommodation for 53 patients, during February there was an average of 61 patients a day in the hospital. The Fourth Bowmanville Club Park euchre held by the parents of the boys at the Memorial Park Clubhouse last Thursday evening was an enjoyable enjoyable event.
