They were split into several groups where specific procedures were explained. Dr. Isser Dubinsky of Bowmanville was the co-ordinator of the project with assistance from several members of local and neighboring hospital staff. Kendal Woman Wins Free Trip on Anniversary KENDAL NEWS Miss Carrie Brown, and Miss Jennifer McIntyre of Toronto were weekend visitors visitors with Catherine Stewart. Miss Brown is a grand niece, she also had Mrs. Dan Keane of Scarborough, a niece. Mrs. Doug Harris had a very pleasant phone call on April 6th that she was the winner of a free trip to Holland. Some time earlier she had entered a joke contest on Station CHOO, never dreaming she would win. They had another reason to celebrate celebrate on that day as it was their 5th wedding anniversary. anniversary. Mrs, Harris had to decline the trip as her illness she had recently does not permit her to fly but she will be getting other compensation instead. The Kendal Women's Institute Institute met at the home of Mrs. Barb Cathcart on April 11 which was open house to new members. We had several guests. Mrs. Barb Holland presided as President. It was the day of electing new officers. Mrs. Ken Dykeman will remain as Secretary and Mrs. Del Gosson as treasurer. . There were 12 members present, two guests and we also had a Fashion 2-20 makeup makeup demonstration by Mrs. Rosalind Allin which was most interesting. Several of the girls volunteered to do the whole make-up procedure. The business of the Penny Sale was all planned, luncheon, helpers etc. which will be in two weeks, April 28 at 8 o'clock. The luncheon hostesses were Del Gosson and Leonora Stapleton. All the members had a very pleasant afternoon. The meeting closed with singing of O Canada. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ken Dykeman on May 9. Mr. Gerardus Dekkers of Cochrane, Ont. visited with his daughter Audrey Gosson and husband John and family last week. While here he also visited visited with his son in Mississauga, Mississauga, John Dekkers and daughter Jane in Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Gosson of Calgary, Alberta visited with Del Gosson and family last week. They also visited his mother, Mrs. L. B. Hackey and sister Mrs. Jim Wannon in Hamilton, also visited with friends in Toronto. "Cancer can be beaten... More work is being done at the parsonage getting ready to paper. Jack and Jean Ogden were greeters for Palm Sunday service at the church Sunday morning. The flowers at the altar were from the family of the late Miss Adie Millson whose funeral was on Tuesday. The sermon by Linda King was Go, Do, Say. The choir sang "The Way of the Cross Leads Home." On Sunday afternoon a miscellaneous miscellaneous shower was held at the Sunday School for Miss Sherry Stapleton. Good Friday services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. by the U.C.W. Marilyn Martin of Newcastle will be the guest speaker. Our monthly monthly meeting of the U.C.W. will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 8 with Berneice Milligan's group in charge. Mrs. Acosta, Public Health Nurse, will be the guest speaker.
