News Postscript to The Kingnd I By Janice Seto After hearing the favourable favourable comments by members of the audience about The King and I, the Bowmanville High School Drama Club can celebrate the success of its musical. B.H.S. News, the high school column, will feature a review of the show, which was a financial success. The auditorium was almost filled for three of the performance performance nights, so there are profits for the football team. The list of people to whom the B.H.S. Drama Club is in debt is extensive. Beginning with our directors, the list includes the Sheridans and Mr. Lindop and the music men, Mr. Doug Dewell and Mr. Ross Metcalf. An exclusion exclusion of the makeup people (Judy Bagshaw, Jan Leak, and Misses Hockin, Beaver, and Auger) who "orientalized" "orientalized" the cast, would be shock-, ing. The make-up people of the stage which included the Art Department of B.H.S.' Mrs. Eccles and the Tech department's department's crew led by Mr. Winder, created a stunning set, magnificently painted in bright colours and the banner. These people who "set the stage" for the show are thanked thanked also. The costuming people should take a bow too. The ball gowns, the uniforms, the ward -robes of the English and the Siamese were all instrumental in setting the period of the play, the 1860's. The prop and set crew, which added the unexpected comic touches of the flying deathbed and the big wad of pink gum, were skilful in moving in the dark under the careful watch of the stage managers. To make a long thank you short, it would be appropriate to begin generalizations here. The cast did a splendid job of adapting The King and I to B.H.S. There wasn't a dry eye in the theatre after the performances. performances. These people of the Drama Club strived to work hard and the training has paid off. The crew was a fortress of strength and talent in all ways. Lights, set, costumes, publicity, music and direction were used to their fullest potential. Congratulations Congratulations arid thanks to all. Our last thank you is to our discriminating audience. You all cheered, laughed, and cried to support our football team and to see a musical at its best at B.H.S. We all derive great satisfaction at having entertained our senior citizens on Senior Citizens' night and at Marnwood and theatre fans at regular performances. Thank you for your participation participation and see you in either November or December at another B.H.S. Drama Club presentation. WELCOME.. employees of BRANT orate SUPPY LTD.
