Son of the late Albert and Ethel Gainer, he was born at Minden, and educated in Minden and at Queen Alex School, Peterborough. He was married October 2nd, 1940, to Ruby Marion White. A resident at 106 Church Street, Bowmanviile, lie had previously resided at 221 Celina Street, Oshawa. Employed as a roofer and mechanic, he had retired in 1977. A member of the Oshawa Senior Citizens, he had served in the Second World War. Surviving are his family, Fred, of Bowmanviile, and Kenneth of Windsor, Fern (Mrs. Ralph Burgess) of Bowmanviile, Iris (Mrs. Fred Lemon) and Norman of N.W.T., a sister Velda (Mrs. D. Gray), Newtonville, two brothers Kenneth of Toronto, Mervin of Lindsay, and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased predeceased by two brothers Lawrence of Lindsay and Jordan (killed in action). All served in Canadian Regiments Regiments overseas. Captain Ellis Cuff, of the Salvation Army officiated at funeral services held on Monday. Pallbearers were Messrs. Bob White, Curl Vanstone, Don Timms, Tommy Foster, Joint Trimble and Dan Pether- iek. Floral tributes were received received in his memory from Branch 178, Royal Canadian Legion and from Dorn's Auto Parts.
