In her informai address to the Auxiliary at their monthly meeting on May 4, Mrs. Stewart explained the special role of those caring for long-term patients. They try constantly to bring to their patients a touch of the outside world from which they have been cut off. Young children are encouraged to visit them as there can develop a lovely communication between the young and the "continuing care" patients. Mrs. Stewart thanked the Auxiliary for their ongoing OBITUARY William Lawrence Greenwood William Lawrence Greenwood, Greenwood, a life long resident of Clarke Township, passed away on April 5, 1984, at Bowmanville Memorial- Hospital, after a courageous battle against cancer. Son of the late William and Florence Greenwood, he was born at Kirby on June 10,1912. He moved with his parents to Orono and later to the Sixth Line of Clarke. There he began what proved to a lifelong lifelong career in farming. On Dec. 5, 1942, he married Gladys Ard and they continued continued to reside on the Sixth Line until Nov. 1983, when they moved to Station Street, Orono. He was a member of Kendal L.O.L. and Kendal United Church. He was a strong believer in the importance of community spirit. One way he demonstrated this was through his interest in education. education. For a number of years he was a trustee of the local school board, then of the Clarke Township School Area Board and later the Northumberland Northumberland and Durham Board of Education. An avid conversationalist conversationalist and card player, in. his later years, he enjoyed these activities with his many friends. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Gladys, sons Ralph of Kendal, Grant of Burlington, Brian of Kimberley, Kimberley, B.C., daughter Linda (Evans) of Kendal and five grandchildren. He was predeceased-by predeceased-by a sister, Velma Brown of'St. Catharines. Funeral services'were héld at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, on Sat., April 7. The services were conducted by the Rev. Wayne Wright and Rev. Donald Evans. Interment was at Orono Cemetery on April 24. She explained the function of the bathing unit, donated by the Auxiliary several years ago, and noted what a great help it is in avoiding pressure lesions, and assisting in water therapy. Mrs. Stewart's keen sensitivity sensitivity and enthusiasm for her work were felt by all members present. Joan Fruin, president, president, thanked her for her efforts in making the life of "continuing care" patients interesting and important. Following the reports of the various chairmen, sandwiches and coffee were enjoyed. Wool was distributed to those interested interested in knitting booties and baby outfits.
