Mr. and Mrs. Dick Howe were Mother's Day supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Howe. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Werry and Ralph were Sunday lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Kerr and family. Miss Myrtle Tamblyn, Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bowman and accompanied them to Mr. and Mrs. Eric Bowman's for a family dinner party on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Ern Werry, Sharon and Jennifer Preece, Oshawa, Pam Bye, Peterborough Peterborough were Mother's Day supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Werry. . Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty, Mrs. William Oxford, Hampton were ' Mother's Day supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Axford and family, Hampton. Mrs. Pat Kerr, Brougham was a Mother's Day guest of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Kerr and family. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beckett's family were callers of Mr. and Mrs. Beckett on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Avery and Jim were Mother's Day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rekker and family, Newcastle. Misses Amber and Chrisie Gordon, Oshawa spent the week with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Werry. Mrs. Jim Muller, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wright, Jeffrey and Trevor, Solina, Mrs. Ron Clemens, Hampton were Mother's Day callers of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty. Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Gorgerat and boys, Bowman- ville were Mother's Day lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wally Griffin. On Sunday May 13th, Mother's Day was designated as Christian Family Sunday by the United Church of Canada. Great thanks go to our ladies of the U.C.W. who put this service of worship together and who celebrated with us. Different ones of the U.C.W. took the different parts of the service. We were very pleased to have the Kerr family give us their Ministry of Music. Rick's mom, wife Liz and two Children Children Michael and Cathy. They favored us with three numbers. Mrs. Kerr playing an Omni Chord (electric auto harp). The scripture lesson was taken from Mark 10: 13 - 30. Our guest speaker who gave a very worthwhile message was Cathy Lee from Kingsview United Church, Oshawa. A very special welcome was extended to all the Mothers who worshipped with us on Sunday. At the closing of the service, the Sunday School Children presented their mothers with a beautiful carnation - all the other mothers also received flowers. The announcements are as follows: I Sunday, May 20th - Enniskillen Enniskillen Sunday School Anniversary Anniversary to be celebrated at the church beginning at 2 p.m. Our "Guest Speaker" will be our own Pastor Joe Lafave as well as special presentation from our Sunday School children. II Anniversary Dinner...this annual treat takes place at Enniskillen United Church beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd. III Father's Day - The Sacrament of Baptism and Holy Communion will be celebrated celebrated at both churches. If you have a little one who you wished to have baptized and have not as yet contacted the Pastor, please do so now so that final arrangements may be made. IV Enfield U.C.W. will hold their annual Quilt Show at Enfield United Church from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on June 9, 1984. V Enfield Community Church Service - brought back by popular demand - Enfield United Churdh will. celebrate an evening service of worship with guest speaker Pas,tor Joe , Lafave and special music by the Floyd Lloyd Country and Western Band. This service will take place on Sunday, June 24th at 7:30 p.m. Quote- "You're still young if the morning after the night before, still makes the night before, worth the morning after." Mr. and Mrs. G. Turner, Bournemouth, England were guests for several days recently recently at the home of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Derek Barnett. They enjoyed the Cullen Gardens and Parkwood, Oshawa. Mr. George Bellemy, Chris, Scott, and Brenda, Hamilton, were Friday and Saturday guests of his mother, Mrs. Bessie Bellamy. Mr. and Mrs. David Ferrier and Doreen, Bolton were weekend guests of the Challices, and all attended the Mother's Day family party at Mr. and Mrs. Murray Brown's, Peterborough. Sunday guests of Mrs. Bessie Bellamy were her niece, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McMurchy, Bramalea. Mrs. Ona Miller and Mrs. Edith Taylor attended the Friday night salad supper sponsored by the Pontypool Church, and as usual report an excellent dinner and attendance. attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bailey attended the Customs Brokers Convention in Peterborough, the past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Taylor, Scarborough, were Saturday guests of his father, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor. Sympathy of the community to Margaret Bradley and family in the loss of her father, the late Albert Mitchell who passed away Thursday, May 3 in Kingston. The Mitchells had lived in Orono for many years and he had worked at the Reforestry. Orono Jr. Gardeners Orono Jr. Gardeners met May 9 in Orono United Church. There were seven members and two leaders in attendance and the meeting opened with the Jr. Gardeners Creed and prayer. We talked about the flowers growing in our gardens and what we did at the spring break. Each member made a dish garden and then played a game. The Jrs. spring show will be held May 24th in Orono United Church. Antique Car Rally Approximately 98 members of the Antique Car Club enjoyed enjoyed a delightful Sunday brunch on Sunday, May 13th, at the New Dutch Oven restaurant. Thére' were 22 antique cars and everyone enjoyed a tour of the district, following brunch. Sr. Citizens Meeting The regular monthly meeting meeting of the Orono Sr. Citizens Club, was held Thursday, May 3rd, in the I.O.O.F. hall with a splendid turnout. Mrs. Bertha Touchburn and Mrs. Doris Wannan were in charge of the meeting, and following the business period, progressive euchre was enjoyed with the following results - High lady - Edith Taylor, Low lady - Doris Wannan, High man - Carlos Tamblyn, Low man - Hilda Tamblyn (playing as a man). Special Bingo winners - Hilda Caswell. Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 7th at 5 p.m. commencing with a pot-luck luncheon. St. Saviours Church News The beautiful flowers in the altar of St. Saviours on Sunday morning were given to the Glory of God in memory of Mr. and Mrs. George Gray and Mr. and Mrs. C. Kelly Lane and placed by Charles and Gloria Gray. Courtney Jane Fullerton was baptized at St. Saviours and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fullerton, R. R. No. 2, Orono, on Sunday. Fellowship Car Rally - This fun-filled happy experience of the parish takes place again Sunday, June 10. Parish picnic is Sunday, June 24th starting with a service service in St. Saviours Church at 10:00 a.m. and a parade to Orono Park for a pot-luck lunch and old fashioned games. Orono United Church News "All Things Bright and Beautiful" was the opening children's hymn on Sunday, Mother's Day. Mr. Jim Brownlee was in charge of the service and gave the children's children's story. Rev. Wright was away at Conference in Belleville. Belleville. Sympathy of the community to the relatives and friends of the late Mrs. Violet (Sheldon) Moffat who passed away Sunday, May 13, in Brockville. Funeral was held Thursday, May 17 from Orono United Church. A good attendance at the Kirby Congregation Mother's Day service on Sunday. Mr. Brian Colville capably took charge of the service, in absence of Rev. Wright. The Sunday school made cute little arrangements to give to their mothers. His many friends will be sorry to hear Mr. Lloyd Ransberry is a patient in Oshawa hospital. A speedy recovery is our get well wish!
