The time for the service is 11:00 a.m. Cartwright Scouting The first Cartwright Group Committee held a pot-luck father and son banquet Saturday evening evening at Blackstock Rec. Centre. Rev. Dale Davis ■ gave the blessing. Chairman Steve Ware presided over the program program which included section reports and special presentations. Cubs 'B' pack: Akela - Gloria Parsons gave Five Star General Awards to Peter Simms, David Weir and Stuart Dyer. Cub of the Year is Kevin Wilson. The World Conservation badge was presented to Stuart Dyer. Scouts 'A' Troop: Troop Scouter Doug Hudson presented the Canada flag pins to each scout. Ken Weir received received Scout of the Year Award." Ken Morley from the Ministry of Natural Resources provided an entertaining film and question period on the "Osprey" which concluded concluded the festivities. Lions Club News The Blackstock and District Lions Club wish to extend a thank you to the folks from Nestleton and Caesarea who suppported their Flea Market held at the Arena on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday May 27. It was much appreciated. The event was a great success financially - up over last years by a large amount. Our congratulations! congratulations! Blackstock Area News by Joyce Kelly In every respect Cartwright's Cartwright's "Toast to Gord" an afternoon to express the community's appreciation appreciation and best wishes to Gordon Paisley who will be leaving Cartwright Cartwright High School after 34 years of service, 30 of which were spent as Principal. Former students and staff from many places in Ontario, including- London, Kitchener, Kitchener, Brantford, Chesterville, Peterborough Peterborough and many others along with a large number of local friends filled the gymnasium to capacity on Sunday afternoon. A programme, with Harvey Graham, as Master of Ceremonies, brought tributes from many areas. Ruth Lafarga, Chairman of Durham Board of Education offered her congratulations and brought best wishes from the Board. Area Superintendent- Bill Fairburn, brought a message of personal esteem and best wishes. Trustee for Scugog- Rev. Stuart McEntyre paid tribute to Mr. Paisley for his fine work in C.H.S. as well as for best wishes. Jerry Taylor, Mayor of Scugog brought congratulatory congratulatory greetings from the Township Council Council and presented Gordon with a plaque honouring him for his great achievements. Interspersed Interspersed with these speakers were several other items, The staff presented an original poem by Mrs. M. Van Camp entitled "Cord's Song" after which they presented Mr. Paisley with an engraved Brass School Bell. The School Choir under the direction of Mr. R. ,'shton sang two numbers. Ralph De- Jong representing the students gave a Parady on Shakespeare honouring honouring his principal. A duet by Lynn McLaughlin and Craig Paisley, Gordon's son concluded this section section of the programme, Students' Council President Norma Jean Newbold, along with Cathy Paisley made a presentation of a photographic portrait of Mr. Paisley to be hung in the school. A smaller portrait was also presented to Gordon. The gift of appreciation appreciation from the community was a beautiful Pen and Ink drawing of Cartwright Cartwright High School done by local artist- Sandra Thompson and was presented to Gordon by Sandra and Harvey. The inscription reads; "Presented to Gordon Paisley with respect and affection from his friends at C.H.S. 1950-84." In addition, addition, a purse of money also was presented to Gord. In his reply, Gordon reviewed many of the events over his years. He also was appreciative of the fine support he had received over the years, A gigantic cake showing showing the school and Cord's famous red convertible had been baked by Helen Newlove was cut by the guest of honour. The remainder of this emotion-packed afternoon afternoon was spent in visiting with the many friends both local and out-of-town. The "Toast to Gord" will be an event long remembered by a great many people. Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. Gordon Paisley, Craig and Cathy included family members who had attended attended the "Toast to Gord" on Sunday afternoon afternoon - were his mother Mrs. Robert Paisley, his brother Robert Jr. and Betty Paisley, their daughter Jane and George Canning, his sister Doreen and John Morris and son Jason and his cousins Ruth and Harold Bradford and Mrs. Ella Putman, Most of these relatives are from his home town of Dunnville,
