The fire that started started very suddenly completely completely destroyed both the store and the garage in a matter of a few hours. Also Mrs. Shirley Turner is home again after another session of surgery - this time in Oshawa Hospital. Better health is wished for you both as well as others who are not well. Jim and Barbara Sleep, Blayne and Bristol Bristol have moved back into their renovated home last weekend. They will be glad to get their routines back again following the confusion confusion that resulted from their house fire in March. Best wishes to the Sleeps. Plans have been finalized finalized for both the Annual High School At Home to be held on Saturday evening, may 26 and the Toast to Gordon Paisley to be held this Sunday, May 27 at the C.C.P.S. All former students, teachers and interested community are invited to attend this special event which begins at 2 p.m. All Cartwright visitors are asked to bring some squares, cookies or tarts for the reception. On Wednesday of this week, the Rangers are holding a Fashion Show at the C.E. Room of the United Church. This event is open to anyone wishing to attend. Cost $2.00 per person. Todd Martyn enjoyed the holiday weekend south cf Toledo, Ohio attending a B.M. Motorcycle Motorcycle rally. Next Saturday and Sunday the Lions Club will be holding a Flea Market at the arena from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be many local craft displays. If the area looks much tidier credit must go to the Cubs of A pack who were busy doing a clean-up. The regular Wednesday Wednesday evening Lions Club was a great success with Marlene Grass, a very dynamic speaker from the Canadian Canadian Diabetic Association. Association. The Club made cash donations to both the Diabetic Association and to the Larry Cooke Trust Fund. On Saturday and Sunday, Sunday, May 12 and 13 Lynn Bazarin, Dawn Bayley, Carol Lewerentz, Diane Baumchen and Susan Whitteveen, led by Miss Susan Sheen, hiked thirty miles as a practice practice hike for the gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. The girls set up camp at the home of the Mortons in Bethany. Miss Sheen not only shared her expert knowledge knowledge of the fine art of camping but literally gave the clothes off her back (and the watch off her wrist) when the weather grew chilly and it was discovered none of the girls had a watch. Mr. and Mrs. Morton and Miss Morton made the girls feel right at home and even provided the use of their luxurious luxurious van, complete with beds and warm blankets. Lynn, Dawn, Carol, Diane and Susan are very grateful to Miss Sheen and the Mortons for their help in making the hike such a great success. Howard and Tara Bailey visited Howard's friend from University at Seaforth over the Jong weekend. At the recent Youth Group meeting it was decided to hold a car wash on Saturday, June 2 at the High School. Make plans to have a clean car on that date. Congratulations to Allan Tilling and Darla Waverley Public School held a skip-a-thon recently to raise funds for the Heart Foundation.
