The fund-raising project took place at the Bowmanville Police and Fire Building parking lot. May 20 with Muriel Lawrence were Jane Lawrence from Newton- ville. In the afternoon her granddaughter, Janet, and her husband Blake from Ajax were afternoon and supper guests of Muriel. Dinner guests of Muriel Lawrence on Monday May 21 were her son John and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Cover- ly from Whitby. Swimming registration registration will be held by the O.N.O. at the home of Elaine Bailey on Thursday Thursday morning of this week, May 24 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. John Wolters have returned home from a three week holiday to their native Holland where they visited many relatives and friends. Nursing staff from Memorial Hospital Bowmanville Bowmanville recently donated $3,400 towards building and renovation projects being launched by the Memorial Hospital Foundation. The funds were raised during Nurses' Week, when donations were collected through a car wash, raffle, and dance. The funds were formally presented to representatives representatives of the Memorial Hospital Foundation on Fri day, May 25. From left are: Jack Wilson, assistant executive director of Memorial Hospital; Tom Cowan, chairman of the board of directors; Anna Bragg, a member of the social committee which organized the fund-raising and Angela Cox, also a member of the committee. Roll Call was, wear as many slogan buttons, pins or broaches as possible and was well answered with many interesting pins some of which were real collectors collectors items. Kathleen Dorrell was the prize winner with the most buttons. After roll call Daine had some of us trying out the hula hoop. While her friends have long recongnized Sharon Wilson's Wilson's many talents we had no idea she was a champion with the hula hoop. Diane served a very tasty lunch while we visited and enjoyed the many buttons and pins on display. The June meeting is a pot luck dinner at Jean Goble's house at 6:30 p.m., Group 1 salad, Group 2 Dessert and Groups 3 and 4 main course. Thirteen members of the Morning Unit of UCW met at Joan Graham's Graham's home. After a social half hour Unit Leader Eleanor Werry opened the meeting with a poem, 'If no birds sang only those who sang best'. Minutes were read and approved. Margaret Mountjoy thanked everyone for their beautiful desserts and co-operation for our Dessert Travelogue. Our Unit will provide the Lion's Club with their dinner May 16 and General Meeting will be May 30 at 7:45 to begin with Pot Luck supper.; For our June meeting we are planning a trip to Cullen Barns. Norma VanCamp conducted conducted the worship. Her theme was May winds and Sunshine. Using Deuteronomy Chapter 33 verses 12 and Leviticus Leviticus Chapter 25 v.3. Norma told of some of her memories of wind and tumbling thistle when she was young out on the Prairie. Joan and Harvey then took us on their trip to Europe with pictures and commentary commentary which was most enjoyable. Blackstock Nursery School Our year-end trip to Peterborough Zoo is on May 24.
