Canada Day to Be Celebrated At Marina By Catherine Denny The Bowmanville Museum is holding its annual Canada' Day celebration on July 1st, at the Port Darlington Marina. Everyone is encouraged to come to the festivities decked out in their most authentic national and period costumes to commemorate the landing of the early settlers. Museum curator, Marion Veinot, decided that the Marina would be the most appropriate spot to hold the community celebration because the waterway was so important to the pioneers. The celebration will begin with a buffet breakfast served on the Main Deck of the Marina from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. shortly followed by a presentation presentation of the Navy League Oshawa Corps, Hawkins. The big event of the day, for those who dare, is the canoe and dinghy races down the Bowmanville Creek commencing commencing at 2:30 p.m. To enter the race you must first register at the Bowmanville Bowmanville Museum and pay a $1 entry fee for canoe or dinghy. There will be prizes awarded for the best decorated rigs as well as for the winning voyageurs. Another major attraction will take place at 4 p.m. when the Highland dancers will make their hour long presentation presentation in honor of the Scottish settlers. "The whole day will be packed full of fun and excitement," excitement," promises Mrs. Veinot. There will be boats on display from the Etobicoke Yacht Club, games, prizes, and basically just some old fashioned good times.
