Jr. Orioles Split Games This past week the Cowan Pontiac, L&L Tool Jr. Orioles split a pair of games, losing in Whitby 13-3 and defeating Little Britain 10-7 at home. In the Whitby game, the Orioles out hit their opponents but it was too many errors and shoddy fielding that hurt hurler hurler Chris Moffat more than anything. Getting hits for the Orioles were Wayne Mutton, Rob McCullough, Scott Michelson, Tobin Rowe, and Tony Rupa. The linescore for Bowmanville Bowmanville was 3 runs, 5 hits, and 6 errors. Whitby had 13 runs, 4 hits, and 0 errors. On Sunday at Soper Creek Park, Little Britain supplied the opposition and this was a more entertaining game than the one played the week earlier. earlier. They are, 1-r, Louise Wilson of Oshawa, Jeff Mitchell of Pontypool and Andrew Goad of Bowmanville. Ray Wilson, 4th degree black belt holder, will be with them in Quebec, providing instruction. Legionaires Improve The Bowmanville Legionairres continue to struggle, but an improvement improvement in their defence has kept them close in their last two contests. A week ago Sunday, Whitby came to town to claim a lop-sided victory as Bowmanville's pitching became became erratic early. NEW GAME -- The up and coming game of the 1980s is the Great Canadian Adventure Game which is being planned to open about June 1st, hear the Newcastle Golf Course, by Steve Laur- ion. This new outdoor activity is played on fields ranging from 12 to 25 acres which are comprised comprised of both open and wooded areas to enhance the challenge of the game. Basically a game involves involves two teams of approximately 15 persons each, with the teams trying to capture the other team's flag and return to their own flag station. Each player is required to carry specific equipment equipment supplied by the game organizers. This includes includes a harmless air pistol with C02 cartridges and soluble marking pellets, goggles and camouflage camouflage outfits. The Legionaires who have continued to improve all season, held the lead throughout throughout most of the game but the experience of Kendal allowed them to come back and force the game to overtime when they finally prevailed. Bowmanville took the lead in the second inning when Paul Dadson walked and scored after Jeff Edmondson reached base on a Kendal error and then Jim Treen capped the inning with a two run homer. Kendal came back with two runs in the second but still trailed 3 - 2. Bowmanville stretched the lead to 5 - 2 in the fourth inning as Kevin Gibson singled, John Stainton reached base on an error, Gibson scored on a single by Paul Dadson, and then John Stainton scored on a single by Ron Stainton. Kendal came back with two runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth to tie the game, but Bowmanville regained regained the lead in the seventh as Ron Stainton led off with a solo home run. In the eighth inning, Kendal again tied the game and Bowmanville made a pitching change as Jeff Edmondson gave way to Chris Moffat alter giving a great performance through seven innings. The game remained tied at six until the top of the tenth, when John Stainton and Mark Luxton each hit solo home runs to give Bowmanville an 8 - 6 lead, but in the bottom of the tenth Kendal came up with three rims to claim victory.
