Janice and Garry Béechey spend the weekend in Paris to help his parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Alba Currie and Mrs. Vera Warmington of Beaverton, sisters of Mr. Grant Thompson and a long time friend of the family, Mrs. Agnes Learn from Blackpool England spent Wednesday Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson. Many of the local Junior Farmers were very busy over the weekend; working at their food booth at the Thistle Valley Tractor Pull, Bowmanville. On Father's Day, about 35 relatives gathered at Bob and Nancy Bryan's and enjoyed enjoyed the 14th annual picnic picnic of the descendants of the late May and Morley Watkins of Courtice. One of the guests was Leanna's great grandmother grandmother Babe and Wilf Brown. Babe and Leanna share the same birthday. Stands Firm on Condo Policy Regional government is standing firm on a policy which prohibits landlords from turning apartment units into condominiums unless the rental vacancy rate for the Durham Region is above three per cent.
