For 25 cents, tourists or residents can take a one and one-half hour ride around Whitby in a tractor drawn vehicle. The train carries 18 passengers and will leave the centre at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday. Passengers will view various historic sites during their ride. Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Brown (nee Joyce Prout) and son Dean enjoyed a holiday visiting relatives and friends in Bowmanville. They also spent a few days with her parents at their cottage at Balson Lake and returned home to Fackawic, New Brunswick through Vermont and Maine. It is stated in the Education Committee minutes minutes that the semestering system system at Clarke High School has been most successful and has been fully endorsed by staff, students and parents. Each of the recipients of the $175 scholarship was chosen because of UCO's continuing program of recognizing "excellence in leadership and responsibility" among young persons in Ontario. Presentations were made at each recipient's graduation by a member of UCO's Board of Directors. This year Wayne Yellowlees of Solina, a graduate of the University of Guelph, was a winner of one of the scholarships.
