The unique underwear made of stainless steel mesh and held secure secure with a brass padlock was invented invented by four local couples under the name of Bouwhuis Protective Undergarment Ltd. The product, made of flexible links, may be worn with ease and comfort under everyday clothing, the inventors said. For greater protection it is suggested that you do not carry the key with you, it should stay in a drawer at work, at home or in your car. The idea to design such an unusual unusual product occurred two years ago when Argo Sunshine Girl Jennifer Jennifer Is ford was assaulted and killed. killed. Up until now, women have resorted resorted to carrying weapons, aerosol dispensers containing chemicals, mace, or tried their hand at judo lessons to protect themselves from unexpected attacks. The people at the Bouwhuis company company feel that this undergarment, which weighs from one to two pounds, offers the best method of protection from sexual assault. It is stab-proof, it can not be pulled off or pulled apart, and it can't be torn open with a knife. The cost of the package, which includes includes a quarter-inch padlock and belt, is $179.50. It is only attainable through mail order, with the excep tion of Leisure Lady in Bowmanville Bowmanville and Port Hope which is now carrying the product. Manufacturing of the product is being done in Massachusetts. "If the import taxes were lower, we might be able to sell our product for almost $40 less than we are now," said the president. Mr. Bouwhuis, who formed the business with his wife, four relatives relatives and two friends, explained to the press that there is a very low profit margin on the undergarment.
