4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, July 25,1984 A guide to fine dining and entertainment. Dennison Girls Soccer Team Enjoying Winning Season ' ' ** _ The Bowmanville Dennison's Girls' Atom Soccer Soccer Team, pictured here with coach A1 Cole, have a busy schedule this year playing teams from Bowmanville Bowmanville to Pickering. They are: (front 1-r) Jessica .Knoop, Allyssa McClennan, Susan Read, Sarah Couch, Stephanie Sleep, Allison Morris, Tracy Michaud, Danielle Pierce, Katie Woodlock, (back 1-r) Susan McCullough, Andrea Slocombe, Crysta Courneya, Cheryl-Ann Cole, Christine West, Amy Degroot, Myka Piekenbrock, Stephanie Noble, Christina Thrasher, and Coach A1 Cole. Last Tuesday, July 17, the Dennison Girls' Atom Soccer Team got back on the right track downing Brooklin by the score of 3-0. Led by Cheryl Ann Cole with two goals and Sarah Couch with one goal. Dennison's dominated the game from beginning to end. The girls all played an excellent excellent game showing they had learned the lessons mentioned last week. A strong defensive effort by all our full backs and half backs gave ample protection to our goal and when Brooklin did break through Stephanie Sleep was there to stop them. Crystal Courneyea, Myka Piekenbrock, Andrea Slocombe, Slocombe, Amy Degroot and Susan Read played an especially especially good defensive game. All our forwards kept pressure pressure on the Brooklin goal throughout, constantly attacking attacking the ball. The attack was spearheaded by Sarah, Cheryl Ann and Susan McCullough, with Allysa McLennon and Allison Morris helping keep the ball in the centre of the field. The victory was the result of a good overall team effort and although all the girls have not been mentioned they all deserve deserve top marks for their play. If this continues through the remainder of their schedule, Dennison's will end up with a fine record. This week, (July 24th), Dennisons take their game on the road against Pickering. Good luck and keep up the good work. NEWTONVILLE DISTRICT The community was saddened saddened to hear of the death of Mr. Sid Brown who died late Sunday evening.
