Kendal Sorry didn't make it with the news last week. Sometimes there's just not enough hours in a day. Visitors in Kendal this week are Mrs. Clarice Currie of Salem, Virginia and Mrs. Gene Milam of Danville, Va.; the sisters of Eleanor Foster, they visited around with Eleanor's Eleanor's family locally and are on their way visiting in and around Simcoe and Wood- stock. Hope they have great weather for their visit. Little Sara Ritzie is visiting her Grandma for a few days and visited the Bowmanville Zoo, it's a great place for kids and a truck load of quarters - those deer should be the most overfed critters in the world. Mr. Jack Carscadden was unfortunate enough to lose an argument with a haybine and sustained lacerations and torn ligaments to his arm. You know, its never hard to tell when summer holiday time is with us. We wouldn't need all the little dead furry bodies on the road - sometimes whole families - mom, dad and a couple of the kids, usually rabbits or raccoons, a sad sight. But what really gets to me is the way vacationers and weekend joyriders alike use the highway as one communal garbage dump, from garbage bags full to empty quick food cartons to beer bottles and dirty baby diapers - more years ago than I care to remember, remember, I came to this country country from a city where it was the norm for litter to be blowing blowing around and trash in the gutters - the cities here always were so clean and the country roads the same, but now as each year passes it goes from bad to worse. This is a sad sight. We can't slop the wildlife wildlife from wondering in front of high speed traffic but surely we can stop defacing our highways, highways, can't we?
