The Teddy Bears Picnic was part of the library's summer program for kids. It was a perfect opportunity for stuffed animal lovers like these two, to spend some time with their favorite bear while listeningto stories, playinggames and, of course, eatingsnacks. Fire Department Report A late-night fire on Mill St., in Newcastle Village demolished demolished a garage and destroyed destroyed garden equipment last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Deloris) Bleich of Galt were weekend guests with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Alf Millson. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Potts, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Christensen Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Art Trewin had a lovely dinner at the Dutch Oven Restaurant on Saturday evening celebrating Art and June's thirty-third wedding anniversary. I understand through the grapevine that Play Off in the Tyrone Athletic Association will be starting very soon - and it could be worth coming to see. McFarland, Ottawa and Wendy returned home with them. She is now spending a few days with Auntie Carol at Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith visited with Kyle and Barbara Graham and Sadie, Newcastle, Newcastle, on Sunday and were dinnerguests. Saturday little Miss Brenda Nielsen turned fiye years old and celebrated by having a Birthday Party supper. Now we know she had a happy birthday, don't we? Sunday evening callers with Frank and Beth Nielsen were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd (Debby) Williams from Toronto. (Intended for Last Week) On Sunday last, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Blackburn, Wayne and Joan and children from Orono and Carol from Oshawa and Mrs. Vivian Dunn and two sons from South Carolina, who are visiting with her sister Eileen and family enjoyed a picnic at Caesarea Lake. Mrs. Kay Buttery visiting friends at Oshawa, saw a few of the Tall Ships everyone seems to be talking about. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Christensen Christensen motored to Summerside, P.E.I. last week to visit with Dorie's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Henderson and attended Joan Henderson's wedding to Mr. Tom Leonard. Both the bride and groom have been working in Fort McMurray, Alberta, but since they both came from Down East, came back home to be married. We're sorry to hear that Mr. and Mrs. David Atkinson (nee Christensen), Toronto, were unable to attend the wedding because of Mr. Atkinson's father's sudden death. We extend our sympathy to Mary Ellen and David. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Houseman of Calgary, Alberta flew home and arrived July 15th and spent most of a week with Alfred and Jean Garrard, Barrie and Lori, and of course with Shirley's mother, Mrs. Vera Garrard of Strathaven. They left Friday to go to Alliston where it was hoped they were to meet with friends of Bernie's from the war days before returning to Calgary on Monday night. Mrs. Blanche Jones is accompanying Sandy Jones and driving west hoping to visit with Bill and Alice Mason at Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Last Monday and Tuesday, Mrs. Jan Mayer and Mrs. Val Lloyd went to Combermere near Barrie's Bay to bring Jan's niece Vicki Schryburt home and they stayed over. Then on Saturday and Sunday Val played Lobb Ball with her team sponsored by Gary's Garage were in the tournament at Tyrone. She didn't report any big wins but we expect they did alright. Master Stacy Bleich of Gall is spending a few weeks with Steve and Cindy Millson and boys. Last week Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson entertained friends to a hayride around about the Conservation Area. Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Donna) Mairs, Mandy and Jenny, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Murry (Gail) Finney, Jeffery and Sarah Town, Mr. Garry Read, Kristie and Lisa, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Millson and Jenny and friend Matthew, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Leslie and Johnny Goble, Bethany, Jimmie and Erin Wolfe, Ottawa, Stacy Bleish, Galt, and joined with Steve, Cindy and Adam for hot dogs and hamburgers. - Now that sounds good. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Les Goble of Bethany and attended Mr. and Mrs. Gordon (Barbara) Mill- son's twenty-fifth anniversary dance at Orono Arena. Sunday found Steve and Cindy, Adam and Andrew Millson enjoying the Cowle picnic at Thistle Valley Park. Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Kim) Polls and John, Kincardine, Mrs. Mary Spry and Ashley, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Deb (Sue) Potts and girls from Long Sault were guests with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Potts to visit with Uncle Deb and Aunt Margaret Martin of Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Deb Polls, Barbra and Stephanie stayed with his Dad and Mother for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Martin have been staying with his sister, Gladys and Jack Polls for a month. They have left to visit with their daughter, daughter, Mrs. Carol Edward of Lima, New York, before returning returning home to Florida. We wish Mr. John Roth a complete recovery. He is a patient in Oshawa General Hospital having undergone a hip operation. Mrs. Norma Kennedy, Nick and Brandee enjoyed two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tompkins at Lakefield, New Brunswick. They took part in their Bicentennial Bicentennial Parade and thoroughly enjoyed it - But don't you feel sorry for the hubbies who have to stay home and work?
