Mrs. Bea Jones and Mrs. Lena Clysdale visited Mrs. Vi Gilmer at her apartment in Skater Joins Ice Show Duff - Childs Wedding On Saturday, June 23rd, at 4:30 p.m., at Bracebridge United Church, the Reverend David Stephens performed the wedding ceremony uniting Rhonda Lynn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Childs of Hampton to Paul Douglas Duff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Duff of Bracebridge. The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a formal white wedding gown with long heart shaped train and matching hat with veil. Her bouquet was of yellow and blue roses with white carnations and baby's breath. Cathy Hoare was maid of honor, gowned in a formal soft yellow polyester dress with sheer bodice. Her bouquet consisted of white carnations, blue daisies and baby's breath. The bridesmaids were Julie Freeburn (sister of the groom) and Darlene Clemens of Orono. They wore formal gowns of powder blue polyester polyester with sheer bodice, and carried bouquets of white carnations, yellow daisies and baby's breath. The best man was Pat Freeburn Freeburn and the ushers were Rick Childs (brother of the bride) and Dale McQuillan, all of Bracebridge. The bride's mother wore a formal gown pf, blue stone chiffon. The show opens July 24 in New York City for one week and then will travel to Washington and Boston, after which time the Company will leave for Europe and tour extensively. They were married in the United Church, Newcastle by Rev. Spiney on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning church services were held on the spacious lawns of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stapleton with the congregations of Shiloh, Kendal and Newtonville present, present, also several relatives and friends. The organist was Mrs. Helen Wood of Kendal. The speaker for the morning services was Mr. Barry Lane of Peterborough who entitled his enjoyable service on "It's enough to Believe in God." After the services Mr. Frank Stapleton presented two potted mums to Dorothy and Ray and thanked Barry for coming to talk to us, the first time he held this position. Frank also read a poem which Rev. A. Tizzard had composed for this special occasion. A light luncheon with fellowship followed. Regular services will begin next Sunday, August 5th at Newtonville. Come and admire admire not only the refinished pews but also the decorated windows in the vestry, the choir room, and the minister's room, and the new carpeting in the Sunday School as well as the church services by Lynda King.
