Skating Club's Skate Exchange Yes parents, it's that time of year again. Time to look ahead to winter and one of its most enjoyable sports, skating. Time to check if Johnny's skates still fit and if they don't, bring them to the skate exchange and find a - bigger pair for this season. There will be boys' and girls' skates as well as skating accessories such as skate covers, dresses and leotards. The skate exchange will be held at the Bowmanville Mall on Sat., Sept. 22, from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Bowmanville Figure Skating Club has an exciting skating program for all ages. The Canfigureskate program is designed so that skaters experience various areas of figure skating - figures, free skating, dancing, stroking and precision skating. Skaters are awarded badges and move ahead at their own pace. The main idea is for skaters to be able to participate in figure skating at their own level of interest and skill. The 23-year-old who placed eighth in the Olympic Olympic marathon last month, raced the long stretch through downtown Toronto with an winning time of only 33:58. This was Silvia's first race since coming back from the Olympics; a race that she was glad to have behind her, expecially with a win. Of course the trophy, a 1984 Honda Civic hatchback, hatchback, wasn't hard to accept either, as Silvia, a Guelph University student, used to have to rely heavily on bus service to make her weekly training sessions in Toronto. Toronto. This was Silvia's second race victory that earned her a car. Her first was when she ran the Brooks/Bonne Belle race held at York University University in 1980. At that time the winners received Hondas Hondas which were awarded for one year's use only. Finishing second, with a time of 34:36 was St. John, Newfoundland's Nicola Wills. In third place was Elena Evanoff making it in 34:55.
