1 A guide to fine dining and entertainment. Central School Band Prepares for Santa Claus Parade and, as one student said, look like they've gone through the Boer War, most of the band members are using new equipment. Of course the money being invested in the program program is highly worthwhile considering the fact that it creates an atmosphere of fellowship among band members, it broadens the students' horizons, and will give graduating students an advantage when pursuing their music studies at the high-school level. In fact this extra-curricular extra-curricular course has sparked so much interest in its participants, participants, that the majority of players have also begun taking private music lessons lessons outside of the school. And apart from lessons and rehearsals, the band is often invited to play at various various functions throughout the community; many concerts concerts of which are played alongside the Senior Public and the Bowmanville High School bands. But for the time being, the red-sweatered musicians will be concentrating solely on memorizing their cues for the parade, trying to march in unison, and basically basically striving for perfection. All the crowd is expected to notice is the polished performance. This is the main driving force behind the Central Public School Band which has been practising day after day for their big debut at the Santa Claus Parade in Novemeber. Although no one will realize the number of hours that have been sacrificed in lunch hour rehearsals and after-school lessons, the students are bent on proving proving themselves as worthy musicians -- and will receive receive recognition only for a good finished product. The twenty-eight piece band, headed by Dale St. John, consists of youngsters from grades.,fqup to six, some of whom were already familiar with a particular instrument, some who had never played a tune before in their lives. So, it isn't just experience that counts when it comes to making the cut, it's potential. potential. "We have to be selective when choosing the band members because we are working with a limited amount of equipment," explained Mr. St. John. The teacher went on to say that he interviews all interested interested students before each school term, giving each an opportunity to prove themselves before he makes the final decision as to who will be in the band.
