If for some reason a project did not go ahead the ministry will absorb the costs. Under the ministry's municipal non-profit housing program, a federal rent reduction reduction grant from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Corporation reduces the effective interest rate on loans from private lending institutions to two percent. When required, the province offers an additional additional rent reduction grant of up to 100 percent of the federal assistance. These rent reduction grants are used to maintain overall rents at market levels, and to subsidize rent-geared-to- income units. "Together it's possible." What is possible? If all Presbyterian church members would support the Presbyterian World Service Development Projects, much more could be done to relieve hunger and poverty in Third World Countries. Mrs. Lorna Van Mossel of Kitchener, who represents the Presbyterian Church in Canada on the Inter-Church Committee on refugees spoke to the Fall Rally of the Peterborough Presbyterial Women's Missionary Society held in Grace Church, Millbrook on Wednesday, September 26, 1984. The 50 ladies present were called to order by President Mrs. Jean Coull who constituted the meeting with prayer. We were welcomed to Millbrook by Mrs. Marie MacMaster. Three ladies from Port Hope conducted a beautiful worship service based on a passage of Paul's letter to the Collossians stressing the ways to serve and love our fellow man. The hymns and the solo by Mrs. Marie MacMaster - the Song of Peace all emphasized the theme of the meeting. Mrs. Van Mossel explained that the Presbyterian World Service was formed after World War II in response to needs in natural disasters and some refugee work and later became involved in interchurch interchurch aid and development. Some of the projects of the PWS are work in refugee camps in Mexico, and a 1 HOUR EXPRESS PHOTO FINISHING PHOTOGRAPHY FRAMING PASSPORT PHOTOS WHILE YOU WAIT Lange's Photo Lab Inc. Corn for the Horn of Africa is another project and some money has been sent to Poland for relief work. All these projects . are well researched to make sure that the people who need the help are getting it. Mrs. Holly Hall of Centerville thanked Mrs. VanMossel and presented her with a gift. The usual reports were given and thank you letters from the two campers were read. A full executive meeting is to be held on Oct. 29 at Mrs. Coull's home. This means that everyone on Presbyterial executive and the presidents of each local group are asked to attend. Mrs. Josey Cameron of Norwood gave the courtesies report and Mrs. Francis Seens of Centerville was the organist for the evening. The meeting closed with a lovely lunch served by the Millbrook ladies.
