NON-CONTACT HOCKEY Hat Tricks and Penalties The first game of the evening evening saw San Marino's overwhelm overwhelm Barrett Electric 8 to 3. A. Short, who was taking the place of Barrett's regular goaltender R. Stainton, faced 25 shots while Barrett's could muster only 17. With four unanswered unanswered goals in the second, San Marino's never looked back. B. Benham led the scoring scoring for San Marino's with a hat trick and E. Coscarella managed one goal and three assists. Barrett's top point getter was R. Drew with one goal and two assists. Courtice Auto, who were missing three of their big guns, managed to give the Beasties their toughest test so far this season. The Wreckers started in the first two minutes of the game with R. West getting what was to be their only marker at 1:52. The Beasties came back with goals from J. Wright and P. Bee- croft to complete the scoring for the first period and the game. Two fast skating periods followed, marred by a match and a major penalty. Shots on goal in this 2 to 1 decision in favour of the Beasties were 27 to 18 for the Beasties as well. The early start on Sunday morning in no way slowed down the Flying Dutchman and Shopper's Drug Mart teams, as Shopper's outshot the Dutchmen 30 to 26. Shopper's early lead of one lasted only for the first period ; three goals by the Dutchmen in the second landed them a 3 - 2 advantage going into the third. Never to be counted out, Shopper's went into their typical style of accurate passing and hard skating to score two unanswered goals in the third, giving them a narrow victory of 4 to 3. Len Jay's second hat trick in as many games led the way in Clinic Pharmacy's defeat of Bowmanville Restaurant 7 to 3. J. Allen again did the work for Jay as he recorded an assist for each of Jay's markers. Even a losing effort produced a hat trick, M. Clouthier scoring all three goals for Bowmanville Restaurant. Shots on goal were close - 23 to 21 in favour of the Restaurant, however, Clinic managed to come out ahead in penalties, taking five out of the six issued in the game. The Bowmanville Non Contact Contact Hockey League, at this time, would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Dan Creighton, No. 18 of Courtice Auto Wreckers, who passed away suddenly on the weekend. weekend.
