Page8 St. Paul's Church Anniversary Supplement of The Canadian Statesman, Oct. 17,1984 United Church Women Members The 150th anniversary of St. Paul's has given its United Church Women an opportunity for a number of fulfilling activities. The group hosted an ecumenical evening of fellowship for Bowmanville churchwomen and also produced a cookbook to commemorate 150 years of family life at their church. These are just a few of the UCW activities from 1984. New members are always welcome. The event proved so successful that a second similar program is planned for next year. Last April, there was a concert by a group of stringed instrumentalists called "Collage". This was followed by Doug Hamilton and the Brass Connection. Doug Hamilton is shown here with his group, just before performing at the Bowmanville High School auditorium. Artists from Contemporary Dancers Canada completed the St. Paul's 150th Anniversary performing arts series. Sunday School Is Important Part of Church St. Paul's Sunday School is not as old as St. Paul's Church congregation. It began many years later. However, this year at our Sunday School Anniversary Service in May, the young people learned through dramatic presentation how the practical class sessions have changed over the years. It is still the place where students learn about God, Jesus and the Bible. During St. Paul's 150th year, the Sunday School was responsible for the picnic held after an outdoor morning service at Enniskillen Conservation Area on June 3rd. A variety of games and races were thoroughly enjoyed by all present after a picnic lunch under the trees. St. Paul's Sunday School runs concurrently during part of the church service on Sunday mornings. Students range in age from three years to upper teens, with an average of 100 attending each week. Twenty-six dedicated volunteer teachers take their turn teaching these students in a team teacher program.
