Pontypool News During the Sunday morning service in Pontypool United Church, Sunday School Attendance Awards were presented by Mrs. Dorothy Turner. Receivers of these awards were 1st year pins - Keri Walker and Stephen McLaughlin, 2nd year wreaths - Shannon Sytnyk, Kelli-Louise Dunford, Stephen Quirk,' Pamela Quirk, 3rd year bars - Richard Jeffery, Christina Jeffery, 4th year bars - Paul Quirk, Lorianne Quirk, Sharon Goodman, Jason Turner, Christina Sytnyk, 5th year bars - Lisa Hamilton, Kerry- Lynn Challice, Colleen Goodman, Christopher Turner, 6th year bars - Robin Fisk, Paula Bryant, 11th year - Melissa Dunford. The children must not miss more than 5 Sundays a year to • receive an award. Don't forget the Roast Beef Supper that is to be held this Friday, Nov. 9th in Pontypool Community Centre. Several from Pontypool were present last Friday evening at the play "Yarns to Spin" which was produced by a group from Blackstock with Bethany Schryburt, author, producer and director. The play was well accepted with all taking their parts in a most capable manner. Setting, costumes and make-up were excellent. Cider and donuts were served between the two performances. Tom and Nettie Aiken had an interesting recent experience. They travelled to the Gaspe by train and spent several days at New Richmond on Chaleur Bay. Approximately thirty were in attendance at the Pontypool Residents Association meeting on Sunday evening. A Constitution was drawn up and members of various organizations e.g. Firemen and Park Board gave presentations on accomplishments over the past year. The Association is planning on having street signs erected shortly in the village. Winners at the last euchre were Kay Beggs and Stanley Wright. Next card party in Pontypool Community Centre is Thursday, Nov. 15th, commencing at 7:30 p.m. Take note of change in time - 7:30not8:00. Pontypool will have a Liquor Store before too long. The trailer is already here, located beside the Toronto- Dominion Bank. Cliff and Yvonne Fallis, accompanied by Parnell and Helen O'Neill of Downeyville, were in Toronto on Sunday for the 1:30 p.m. christening of their granddaughter, Hayley Marie Fallis. Afterwards they were dinner guests of Alan and Donna Fallis. Denise Vaughan, a patient in Room 5519, Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto, Ward 5G, would like to hear from former classmates at Grandview. Denise, 6 yr. old, is critically ill with a brain tumour. The hospital is located at 555 University Ave. Last year, Denise was in Mrs. Nicholson's kindergarten class. Sincere sympathy is sent to the Baker family of Mosport Road on the sudden passing of Kathryn, wife of John Baker and mother of Rick and Steve. The late Mrs. Baker, in her 38th year, was killed in an automobile accident early Saturday morning, Oct. 27th, not far from her own home. In the Monday Ladies Bowling League, high score was 222, bowled by Ann Northey. Iviarie Finney had 393 for the high double. Mrs. Sophia Kovacs, 82 yrs. of age, passed away on Oct. 26th in Bowmanville Hospital. Our sincere sympathy to her family. Barbara and Rob Porter, Michael and Kevin of Oshawa, were Sunday supper guests of the John VanWieringens.
