Firing only 11 shots in the game, as opposed to 26 by the Beasties, D. Browne started started Shoppers scoring with his first goal of the season. The phone lines must have been humming as G. James returned returned to help his teammates with a two-goal effort. Shoppers' scoring was rounded out as W. Smith connected for the fourth counter on a pass from P. Hobb. Spectator opinion at this game had the Beasties as the favourite with few penalties. However, Shoppers won and were assessed five minors to three for the Beasties. Running on all cylinders "Diesel" Dave Hansen scored his first goal of the season and it turned out to be the game winner as Clinic Pharmacy upset Barrett Electric 6 to 2 in the final game Saturday night. With 17 penalties assessed, nine to Barrett and eight to Clinic, including fighting majors, it may appear that there was little time for hockey. Nevertheless, each team managed 25 shots on goal and successfully shut down each other's power play with no shorthanded goals allowed. Twice Barrett came within one of Cinic but could not manage that other necessary necessary goal. The score was 3 to 2 in the second when B. Janitsch of Clinic put things out of reach with his first of a pair. The third period saw the majority of penalties assessed, assessed, many more being overlooked, overlooked, as neither team would back down. Things were getting getting a bit silly as the final buzzer sounded, lo the relief of both teams and the refs. By Sunday morning all the dust had settled as San Marino's and Toby's Pub came to play. E. Strand, since being injured, has taken over the coaching duties of San Marino's. Some say his methods involve Bell Telephone, Telephone, as players absent for weeks appeared. R. Hooper scored two for San Marino's as they defeated Toby's Pub 8 to 4, in a good contest. Toby's, without the suspended suspended M. Clouthier, managed to stay within one goal of San Marino's until the end of the second, with goals by G. Powell, a pair, W. Adams and W. White. San Marino's E. Coscarella's and B. Benham's pairs, along with singles from W. Alder and B. Munn, his first goal of the season, rounded rounded out the scoring. Shots on goal were recorded at 32 to 22 for San Marino's. The Flying Dutchman doubled the goal production of Courtice Auto Wreckers as they defeated them 10 to 5 in the final game on Sunday. Courtice seemed a little unorganized unorganized at times, checking each other, and allowing a power play goal by B. Pearce of the Dutchman, on the only minor assessed in the first period. Ten goals by the Dutchman were scattered between nine different players with B. Pearce getting the only pair. J. Rowlands, D. Moriarity, L. Wood and P. Kizoff, sporting his new Cooperalls, all scored their first goals of the season for the Flying Dutchman. Both J. Mathier and F. Sawyer had a pair for Courtice as the scoring was rounded off' with a single by J. Partner.
