Lion Cliff Trapp who organized the canvass advises that the proceeds amounted to $1858.00 - that is $300. more than in 1983 canvass. The Lions Club is a worldwide organization organization and we do commend them for their dedication, enthusiasm and interest re-worthy causes. . On Saturday Chas and Nell Cawker of Scarborough Scarborough and their son Professor Kenneth Cawker of London, were afternoon tea guests at the Cawker Farm, Scugog Point Rd. along with an overdue visit. Sam and Mabel Cawker stepped out in style one day this past week ; - shopping for Christmas gifts in Oshawa - had lunch at the Genosha Hotel - afternoon tea with Grant and Merna Cawker and family - and lastly - dinner with Alan and Eleanor Cawker and family all of Oshawa. Curtis Cawker and friend Jamie Kidd, Oshawa, spent a lively day with Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farm enjoying their "All Terrain Cycle Machine" and other pursuits as well. Nestleton Presbyterian Church News Very pleased to hear that the Nestleton Presbyterian Presbyterian Church is organizing a Sunday School, under the leadership of Dorothy J-ee, Superintendent. Many new families are moving into the village and coming out to church with their children to share in the worship and be a part of the Sunday School. Plans are being formulated formulated for the Christmas Yuletide Season concert etc. Our "best wishes" for a successful venture to this fine little church. Best Wishes A neighbour and friend, John Goss of Nestleton, has been hospitalized in Port Perry, but is now home recuperating - feeling some better as each day passes. Trust John will be feeling like his old "peppy" self again very soon. Nestleton area extends best wishes! Flora Shaw of Nestleton, Nestleton, is home after spending spending 10 days in Oshawa General Hospital. We hope Flora will soon be a whole lot better - healthwise. United Church Women Meet On Tuesday, November November 20th, the Nestleton Nestleton afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. met at the home of president Bernice Mairs for a brief business period. On Tuesday evening the afternoon and evening Units had a combined meeting at the home of Yvonne Priebe in Caesarea. Caesarea. Pres. Arlene Malcolm Malcolm presided and extended a cordial welcome to one and all. Minutes were approved as read by Sec'y Betty Headon. Kay Notman presented an excéllent devotional with her topic - "Why is it so hard to speak of Jesus?" Hymn - -'Be Thou. M'V Vision" was suriÜ'. •: v | Anita Davis explained the importance of forming forming a general executive. Those recruited were: Pres. Gwen Malcolm, Vice-Pres. Janice Mac- Kenzie, Sec'y Kay Notman Notman and Treas. Neta Fish. After business was finalized Arlene introduced introduced Janis Pashley of Williams Point who gave a demonstration on making corn husk dolls. This proved fascinating fascinating and several took material home to try their hand at this craft. Janis was thanked and presented with a small gift in appreciation. The meeting concluded with a delicious lunch provided provided by hostess Yvonne Priebe and a social time enjoyed. The evening Unit will have a pot luck supper, Dec. 12, at the home of Janice Mac- Kenzie. Graham and Neta Fish had Sunday supper with her daughter Marlene Bannister of Peterborough. All the family were on hand for the occasion as well. Grahame and Neta had a nasty drive home in heavy fog. Members of the Courtice Women's Softball League, from the 1920's to the 1980's, held their first annual reunion last Tuesday evening at Cour tice Secondary School. Over 40 people attended the celebration which was organized by long-time player, Babe Brown. Newcastle and Ncwtonville Beavers, Cubs, Guides, Brownies, Pathfinders and Ventures and Scouts held an Eucology Day with their leaders at Brownsdale Community Community Centre on Saturday. The leaders from Ncwtonville were Linda Farrow, Marion and Phyllis Knapp and Marilyn Marilyn Donogluie. Most of the 10 events were done outside with the raising and lowering of their flags complete with a campfire and cleaning up. They also participa ted in skits. Each one to was to bring an article that can be used for recycling for admission and each one received their Bicentennial Bicentennial badges. Over 75 enjoyed enjoyed this outdoor adventure.
