Unfortunately, Unfortunately, only Markham was prepared. prepared. The game began in earnest with both sides pressing and Markham scored early at 14:43 and remained unanswered unanswered until 4:23 when Tony Van Hoof tied it up from Dean Baumhauer and Shane Armstrong. At 1:55 Markham scored again but Bowmanville retaliated almost instantly by Nicky Dennis from Troy Mutton and Tony Van Hoof. With 34 seconds left in the first, Markham served notice of what was- to come in the second by taking advantage of the folding defence and lacklustre lacklustre offence. Five times the puck whistled whistled by Toro goalies in the second while Bowmanville answered for only one in a Greg Goode - smashing drive (from Nicky Dennis). In the third, Shane Armstrong Armstrong (Neil Taylor, Greg Healey) showed some spark but the overall effect was ho-hum as the Toros went down solidly to defeat 10 - 4. Nothing good can be written about the Markham officiating officiating which was weak and biased at best. On November 29th, Toros played host to the Little NHL Bruins. With a tighter defence, excellent back-up support from Mike Ruthard and Derick Biss who took the shut-out, the offence pumped four goals past the NHL goalie to end the match 4-0. Scoring : Tony Van Hoof (Shane Armstrong, Armstrong, Neil Taylor) ; Nicky Dennis (Doug Lever, Greg Goode) ; Shane Armstrong (Greg Healey); Neil Taylor (Troy Mutton).
