Before that he served with the area boards which preceded the N & N board in an edu cation administration career which spanned more than 30 years. He was also a trustee in the 1950s. Chairman Ian Wilson lauded Mr. Bird for his years of "loyalty, dedication dedication and hard work", and added he will miss "the homespun humor" the administrator often lightened the otherwise otherwise serious business of the board with. Mr. Bird offered some of that humor in his parting remarks. "I think back to 1968 (and the formation of the N & N board). In those first years it was exciting exciting and we certainly had problems, but we always told each other next year was going to be better. We long ago abandoned that saying." saying."
