In the second game, Hydro met the Newcastle United Counties team and put out a tremendous effort but lost 3 -1 in a very exciting game with Captain Justin Merkac scoring scoring for Hydro. The entire team deserves credit for playing excellent hockey. The team's biggest loss this week was not the two hockey games but of assistant Captain Jason Moore who broke his arm at school. He is the backbone of the Hydro defense and will be missed by the team. But get better and maybe you will be back by the playoffs. Early in this contest, Bowmanville had a dumber of scoring chances to lake the lead ;x; failed to capitalize. Peterborough Peterborough took advantage of a number of errors in Bowman- ville's end which proved to be the difference in this contest. Jarrett Aus and Davey Veitch shared the goaltending duties and put in a fine performance. performance. Hopefully, coach Osmond will be able to obtain a few more players to complete complete his roster as going with 10 to 12 shooters will not win many games. Whitby 7 Bowmanville 4 On Sunday, December 9th Bowmanville travelled to Whitby and lost a hard fought contest by a 7 to 4 score. This contest had all the makings of a Bowmanville victory but once again came up just short of three solid periods of hockey. Coach Osmond should be pleased as all the boys gave nothing less than a hundred percent effort. Scoring for Bowmanville were Craig Forsey two goals, Corey Strand one goal, one assist, David Syulo one goal, Danny Couillard two assists, Matt Aitken one assist, Branden Osmond one assist, Matt Dykstra one assist. If this is anv indication of future p«ay by these boys i.e rest of the season should be very interesting. Legion Ladies Bowling League Team Standing! Nov. 29 Virg. Square Boy Defeats Kool Enterprises 4-2 D.J. and the Bears realize nothing is to be taken for granted as Kool Enterprises put up good effort on Dec. 1. The first period turned out to be a goaltenders duel between Warren Wright and our man Paul Brooks as both teams had opportunity to score. At one point a Kool defenseman took a screen shot on goal but our Mr. Brooks playing a very alert game made the stop. Square Boy's opened the score in the second period from Shane Crombie assisted by Brian Vandam and Jonathon Jonathon Boyd. The game continued continued with a lot of pressure from the Kool team and good support from Square Boy's defensemen Brent Gibson and the Big M as they poke checked checked and took their man out. All team members did their part in the game which resulted in their second goal scored by the D.J. assisted by Captain Kellet and Ryan O'Neill. The Kool team came bouncing back with a goal to end the period 2-1. In the third period, Kool kept up the good effort as they scored the tying goal with only moments to go in the game. Both teams now looking for that winning goal as the final three minute buzzer sounded. The Square Boy squad knowing knowing what they had to do hit the ice with a very well executed play. The D.J, working the puck in the Kool end fed it over to Captain Kellet who in turn moved in behind the net, waited waited for his team-mate to get in position, then passed to Shane Crombie ns he scored their third and winning goal, Nicely done boys. Square Boy's put the heat on again with only a minute to go as Brad Richard scored the clincher assisted by Mark Burns and Greg Ruby. With only 20 seconds to go in the game f Shane Crombie striving for hit hat trick nearly broke loose but was checked by a Kool player in the centre ice area. Good try Shane. Well done guys.
