The rinks competing in the bonspiel represented a good cross-section of curling clubs from as far away as Guelph and Welland. The Bowmanville rink skipped by Gord Baker captured captured first place and won a trip to Las Vegas. Cord's rink, comprised of wife Rosemary and Robin and Jean MacDonald, defeated a Bay- view entry consisting of Brian Lopatriello, Allison Goring, Martin Schouten and Colleen Neely in the championship final Saturday evening. Marilyn Kowal made the . presentation on behalf of the sponsors of Bowmanville Travel and Labatt's Brewers. Third Prize was also won by a Bowmanville rink skipped by Nelson Brouse with wife Rhoda and Joe and Bernice Pollett. These teams won weekend packages sponsored by the Sheraton Centre, Delta Chelsea Inn and Ramada Inn in Toronto. Buster's Team Wins $1,000 Busters Roadhouse hockey team were big winners of $1000. in a 16-team tournament on the weekend in Sutton. Steve West and Doug Crough were individual winners of M.V.P. and most sportsmanlike sportsmanlike player awards, while goal tender Brit Murphy posted successive shut outs in the final two games. Dutchman Atoms Lose to Cobourg 4-1 The Flying Dutchman Hotel Major Atom Toros suffered their first defeat in several weeks, dropping a 4 - 1 decision decision to the Cobourg Atoms in a game played at the Darlington Sports Centre on Saturday, December 15th.
