Many New Courses Available Big Sisters W eek from F eb. 10-16th Through Oshawa YWCA It's never too late to expand expand your horizons and learn new skills, whether it is to help you in your job, in your home, or just'for fun. In order to help provide you with the variety of choices you demand, the Oshawa YWCA Outreach programs are constantly offering offering new courses, at affordable affordable prices. The newest Outreach programs scheduled to start in Bowmanville this season cover a' diversity of subjects, subjects, from the C.P.R. Heart Saver to the Mini Hostess program, both beginning in February. The C.P.R. Heart Saver is a program designed to teach participants how to sustain life until medical help arrives. In this class, participants will learn Emergency Cardiac Cardiac Care techniques in two evening sessions beginning Monday, February 4th, and ending Monday February 11th. The classes, held at the Bowmanville Senior Public School, will run from 7:30 -10:30 p.m. And, for those who enjoy entertaining in the home, the YWCA is offering a Mini-Hostess program to improve those hostess skills. The course will begin- February 7th and run to February 28th. Oshawa's Little Theatre Presents "Forty Carats" Oshawa Little Theatre presents presents their third subscription play of the season: Forty Carats, adapted by Jay Allen, directed by A. T. Elliott and produced by Leonard Jones, to be performed on the OLT stage at 62 Russett Avenue, February 14-17, 21-24, 28, March 1-2. The play is a comedy in two acts and focuses on the humour of love transcending the boundaries of the lovers' ages. The cast of eleven features a good balance of OLT veterans and several people new to the OLT stage. Using the theme 'Love a Little Sister', Big Sisters NOW ( Newcastle - Oshawa -Whitby ) is prepared to let everyone know now easy it is to be a special friend to a young girl. The organization is also inviting the public to take part in its Old Fashioned Valentines Valentines Day Contest. The creator of the most unique Valentine will win a bouquet of roses for their favorite Valentine. This contest is open to everyone and entries should be mailed or dropped off at Simcoe Hall Settlement House, 387 Simcoe St. S., Oshawa, L1H 4J2, no later than Feb. 8. In addition to the Valentine card contest, special events for Big Sisters Week include a day of outdoor fun at the Enniskillen Conservation Area on Feb. 10. This past year, the organization organization was renamed Big Sisters of Ndwcastle-Oshawa-Whitby. The change was made to better reflect the area in which the agency serves. It became a part of a province- wide organization when a provincial body was recently set up through financial assistance assistance from the Trillium Foundation. The basic idea behind the Big Sisters program is to create a warm reassuring relationship between a mature woman and a young girl in need. Little Sisters are girls age seven to 17 who may Be Stage Band to Play At Heritage Meeting experiencing difficulty in some part of their lives at home, school or socially. Little Sisters come from various backgrounds, most often from single parent, mother-led families, although many live in families where both parents, a father or guardian are providing support. Big Sisters are women over the age of 18 who sincerely enjoy children, and are caring understanding and appreciative appreciative of the art of friendship.
