A resident of the Township of Clarke his entire life, he was born at R.R. 4, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, in the township, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harry Quimiey. He had worked as a farmer. He is survived by a sister-in- law, Mrs. Bert Quinney, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Donna Sutherland, Bowmanville, was a last Thursday noon dinner guest of her parents, "the Challices," New Store Opening Our village now boasts a new bulk food store, the "Village Bin", opened on Friday morning with a large crowd in attendance. Two attractive young ladies, all dolled up in pretty brown gingham pinafores to match the store curtains, greeting the many visitors. Barbara Swan and Ina Hughes are to be congratulated on such attractive attractive surroundings. Many beautiful floral arrangements were sent in by well wishers and Mrs. Diane Hamre brought greetings from the Town of Newcastle. Her opening remarks that "Orono is fast becoming the "Commerce Capital" of the region." Since 1984 we have had a total of five new business business ventures and all quite successful! Most of these are operated by young people and our hats are off to them in their faith for the future. Mr. Roy Forrester, editor of "The Times" brought greetings greetings on behalf of the local "businessmen" and reminded the ladies contrary to a recent news release in his paper, the male population (business wise) are still hard-working, loyal and even at times "Cuddly." His sincere wish was the young ladies would operate at least as long as Pete Mercer, in this fair village! The store boasts an excellent range of spices, pastas, fruits, vitamins, candies, nuts, etc. Orono United Church The Sacrament of Communion Communion was celebrated at regular Sunday morning service, service, with a good crowd in attendance. One meeting was a B-I-M night, a backwards, inside-out and mixed-up night. The girls and leaders came dressed suitably for this and the whole meeting was arranged around this idea. The girls have also been studying about mission work and missionaries in other countries. A story about missionary kids in Africa and India was read and discussed. This was taken from the Kid- power section of the United Church Observer. This story told about some of the food that they eat and at our last meeting in January the girls made "Chapatis." This is a type of bread which is like ' a flat pancake. All the girls tried it and most of them liked it with a little jam and hot chocolate, It was a fun night for all.
