On Tuesday, Mr. Bruce Todd, Scott and Jamie spent the'day at the Canadian Farm Show, Coliseum Building, Toronto. Mrs. Ellen Farrow and Mrs. Sheila McNamara visited Tuesday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy. Last Friday evening, Mr. Bruce Trim, Newmarket visited visited with his mother, Mrs. Isabelle Trim. Mrs. Isabelle Trim was a supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Cooper, Orono, last Saturday evening. Mrs. Leslie Caswell, Marisha and Shaughn, Newcastle Newcastle were dinner guests of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowed on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Nicole and Audley Da Costa held a toboganning and movie party for a group of their teenaged friends. On Friday, Mr, and Mrs. Edwin Ruthven, Port Hope were luncheon and afternoon guests of Mrs. Edna Dobson. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Todd were supper guests on Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fowler, Port Hope. Mr. and Mrs. Basil Kazakos and Zoe, Knoxville were Friday dinner guests of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark. On Friday, Ms. Bev Caswell, Mary and Sarah, Vancouver were dinner guests of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowell. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Souch and children were Friday evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sullivan, Elke and Mark, Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Butch McMahon and Cori, Oshawa visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Fonk, Tanya and Peter. Sunday luncheon guests with Mr. and Mrs. Brian Caswell were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caswell, Marisha and Shaughn, Newcastle, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Higgins, Mary and Sarah, Vancouver, and Mr. Jeff Caswell, Guelph. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McColm, Kathleen, Ginny and Patrick, Oshawa spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy. Ms. Bev Caswell delighted everyone by singing a solo accompanying herself on her guitar. It was announced that there would be a reception next Sunday afternoon, 2 - 5 at Newtonville United Church in honor of Mr. Frank Stapleton, world champion auctioneer. Congratulations, Frank! Peacock took up the offering. offering. Mr. Munroe and Mrs. Quantrill were at the door. Coffee was served as usual. Last Monday the rug braiding course was held and the ladies started to braid. It was held at Mrs. Barkwell's home and about half of the ladies were able to attend, some were sick or had appointments. Another meeting is to be held today. The senior citizens had their January birthday pot luck dinner on Thursday and about twenty attended. Our president, Mr. Plooard was unable to come as she had a bad cold. Jim Gardiner Gardiner is only nicely home from the hospital and he and his twin sister were not able to attend and they were the only birthdays. Euchre was played after with prizes. Mrs. Edna Morris is home from the hospital. Mr. Longyear is expected, home soon. ' Mrs. Wm. Aiken celebrates celebrates her 80th birthday on Feb. 12. Mr. H. White celebrated his 70th birthday on Feb. 3. Our U.C.W. unit II will meet Feb. 12 at Peacock's at 2 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. H. Gordon, Port Hope, visited with Mr. and Mrs. H. Muldrew on Saturday. Mrs. Marie Terbenche and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, Port Hope visited at Mr. and Mrs. B. Cantrell on Thursday. Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Kennedy, Kennedy, Orono, called at Mercer's on Sunday. Misses Mary Alice and Wendy White and Wendy's boyfriend, Toronto, spent the weekend with the girls' parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. White. They all celebrated Mr. White's 70th birthday on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Peacock have their son John and his wife Anne from Australia home for a week. They plan to visit awhile in the U.S.A. Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer had tea Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Philip Mercer. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock, the three boys Shane, Steven Steven and Mark were home for the weekend. They celebrated the twins' birthday birthday on Sunday and had Mr. and Mrs. V. Peacock and Miss Linda Stothart, Port Hope with them. Mrs. R. Westheuser was with Thickson's for dinner on Wednesday. Church services were held as usual, Rev. Rutherford Rutherford conducted the service. The choir sang and Mrs. S. Campbell was the organist in the absence of Mrs. Cruise.
