Checker's Tie Oshawa 4-4 By The Rookie On Saturday afternoon, 16 Feb. at the Darlington Arena, the Checkers Minor Atom team played against one of Oshawa's best little NHL teams, the Black Hawks. There was plenty of action at both ends of the rink and some excellent scoring chances. Steve "Deb" de Blois started the scoring in the first period with assist to Tracy "Speedy" Lemke and Matt "Fourbells" Belfour.' Oshawa tied the score 11 seconds later. Bowmanville got their second goal 56 seconds later from the same line as their first goal, only this time Matthew Belfour scored from Tracy and Steve. Oshawa came back with another another goal late in the first and scored two more in the second to take a 4 -2 lead. Early in the third, Richard Bateman got the team going again by scoring an unassisted goal which was followed a minute later by another Toro goal by Jeff "Mad Dog" While from Brandon "Ozzie" Osmond and new comer Chris McCarthy.
