) i i Joannas Picnic to be Held in Orono Park The Joannas of St. John's met on Monday, May 6th in the Upper Room with 17 members present and two guests, Mrs. G. Gibson and Mrs. E. Tyrell. Mrs. B. Blake, President, welcomed our guests and opened the meeting with everyone joining in a hymn. The Devotional was taken by Daphne King. Get well cards have been sent to members who are ill in the parish by our social convenor, Mrs. I. Anonichuk. Our June meeting will be a Pot Luck Supper joining in with the Young Ladies group on Tuesday, June 4th as their guests. The Annual Strawberry Social will be on June 27th, catered tQ_ by the Martha group. The A.C.W. 100th Anniversary Anniversary was held at the Centennial Inn at Barrie; a bus load from our Deanery attended and reported an excellent program and fellowship. fellowship. Mrs. Betty McKim was installed as the A.C.W. President President for the Diocese of Toronto. This occasion was arranged by Deanery Director Mrs. Isabelle Elliott. Further business was discussed and the meeting closed with the Benediction. The Social evening was most enjoyable and guest speaker, Mrs. E. Tyrrell spoke on her trip to the Dominican Republic, with a medical team from points in Ontario and the part she participated in, the hospital surgery unit, while visiting. The 21-91 Club will be attending the Toronto Blue Jays ball game Saturday, May 11th. A bus will be chartered from the church. Their activities activities for the month of June will be a visit of the Darlington Nuclear Centre and a pot luck dinner at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Norton, Hampton. The Order of Confirmation with Bishop Hunt officiating, is on Sunday, June 9th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Sunday evening there will be a closing dinner at the Odessa Hall, Oshawa in honor of the Bishop's Breakfast held throughout the year at the Holiday Inn, Oshawa. The Annual Sunday School Picnic will be Sunday, June 2nd, in Orono Park. These activities pretty well, conclude the summer agenda and may everyone enjoy a healthy, happy and safe summer holiday. Mr. Devantier joined the municipality as director on May 6. He replaces Bud Fanning who retired from the position earlier. Mr. Devantier is the former director of recreation for Niagara on the Lake.
