The best man was Mr. James Naylor Elliott, brother of the groom and the ushers were Mr. Scott Gracie and Mr. Richard Elliott, brothers of the bride and groom. The maid of honour, sister of the bride, Barbara Shantz, wore a yellow gown with a white sash, and carried a bouquet of silk yellow roses and brown daisies. The flower girl, the bride's little sister Laura Joy Shantz wore a gown of pink and white lace and carried a bouquet of silk burgundy and pink roses with pink roses in her hair. Schwenksville is approximately approximately 50 miles north of Philadelphia. The camporee "Happy Birthday B.S.A." also included included the 70th birthday celebration celebration of Schwenksville Troop 105 complete with birthday cake large enough to feed the 200 participants. West Durham Scouts, from 1st Bethany troop and 10th Bowmanville troop, competed as "Team Canada" in the Neskenno Cup , Baseball Tournament and were lucky enough not to win.
