6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, May 29,1985 Section Two Elizabethville (Intended for last week) On Monday afternoon our U.C.W. Unit II met at Mrs. Edna Morris' home. Eight or nine ladies attended! "Mrs. Trew, president, presided. The minutes of last meeting were read by Mrs. Quantrill. Mrs. Trew had the devotional part of the meeting. There wasn't too much business. Mrs. J. Peacock had the program. program. She continued with the study of the 23rd psalm. Trew, Mrs. Barkwell's friend from Texas and Mrs. Thickson attended the Women's Institute district annual held at Millbrook. We registered at 9:15 a.m. Our president, Mrs. Tripp, opened the meeting. Six branches were represented, Cavan, Bethany, Bailieboro, Morrish, Millbrook and Elizabethville. Address of welcome was given by Millbrook and reply by Elizabethville. Mrs. Tripp brought a report from the district. The six district district directors from the branches were installed in their offices by our provincial Board Director, Mrs. Junkin. Mrs. Rowland, our secretary- treasurer read the minutes of last annual. Our standing committee convenors, public relations officer brought us a condensed report from the six branches. All had reported. Our provincial provincial board director brought us a report from the F.W.I.O. After lunch, Miss B. Weese, R.O.S. Specialist, spoke on our 4-H club courses as well as adult courses which were given last year as well as a report on what is coming up in 85. Our guest speaker was Miss Moira Hunt. She spoke on the value of a good home and family keeping in line with the theme Home and Country, our W.I. magazine. The election of officers followed. followed. The big Garden Hill Park fireworks display was held on Sunday evening with a large crowd attending. All reported a good time and a good band program as well by the Port Hope Pipe Band. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Trew were with Mr, and Mrs. G. Fowler, Stirling. Mr. Trew assisted Garry in moving a mobile home from Toronto to Campbellford, Mrs. Trew went for him and they stayed until Friday, Mrs, Mary Trew and Beatrice Beatrice Rowcliff were with Trew's on Sunday. Mrs. M. McAllister is in Oshnwa Hospital with a problem problem in her hip and back. We hope she is belter soon. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock attended the ordination of Mr. Glen Ball at Leaskdule during the week, Shane Peaeoek was home for the weekend, Miss Linda Stothart, Port Hope, was with Peacock's on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. S. Kennedy, Orono, called at Mr. and Mrs, C. Mercer's on Monday evening, evening, Mr, and Mrs. Everlon White were with Mr. and Mrs. V. Peacock's on Sunday.
