Pickering is a lovely community community to the west of us but the Dennis Pizzeria Girls were glad to see the last of it on Monday, June 17th. For the second week in a row, the girls arrived there ready and willing to play only to be greeted by a down pour. This did not deter them, however, as the games went on with Bowmanville Bowmanville winning twice, both games by a 2-1 score. Sarah Couch led our attack, attack, scoring the 4 goals, but again supported by the rest of the players, notably Tracey Michaud, Desiree Flonk and Robyn Dubeau. Once again our defense and mid-field headed by Jessica Barrie, Dawn Campbell, Jessica Hull, and Christine Kiely did a good job of keeping keeping the Pickering attackers at bay. When they did break through our goalies of Elizabeth Wunderlich and Desiree Flonk were there. On Tuesday, June, 10th, Dennis played at home against Ajax House of China and came away with a 4-2 victory. The game was closer than the score indicates indicates with Bowmanville only getting back to the type of soccer they can play. Late in the game, to ensure victory, victory, Sarah Couch with strong assists from Allison Morris and Alyssa McCIon- nan, scored our goals. As with any sport, you must have all the players, defense, forwards and goalies concentrating on the game. Dennis was tired for this game having played in the rain the previous night and with many of the players involved in track and field activities on game day. Despite their fatigue, the girls concentrated, with Kathy Clements Christine Kiely, Janet Lange, and Anna Rosenberg loading our defensive effort. The altitude altitude of all the players can best be shown by Hint of Robyn Dubeau who came and played while hobbling around on a very sore leg. Congratulations also to Jessica Knoop and Desiree Flonk who played a strong game in our goal, turning aside several dangerous Ajax attempts. With our game on Tuesday, Tuesday, June 25th, Dennis comes to the half-way point in our schedule. Our record is 8-0 and this game against Pickering Basset Jewellers will be for first place as Pickering Pickering is also undefeated. Best of luck Dennis Pizzeria. Pizzeria. drew Davey who all had singles. The second game of the double header only went five innings before it was- called due to rain. At the time the Orioles were lead-' ing 5-4 so as a result they posted their first victory of the season. In the game, Bird scored two runs followed by singles singles from Scott, Michelson, Brad Ramsey and Chris Michelson. Chris Michelson also pitched the 1 five innings innings for the Orioles to pick up the team's first victory. This past Sunday at Soper Creek Park, the Orioles made it two victories in a row by clobbering Port Hope 14-4. The scoring was evenly spread out among the Orioles' players as is evidenced on the scoresheet. A total of 11 different different players were responsible responsible for the Bowmanville runs. However, the highlights of the day were the pitching performance of Mutton who allowed only two hits and Farrow who hit a single homer in the first inning and then a two-run shot in the seventh to conclude the game.
