For you voters in Manvers Township, Township, George Neals, Reeve of the township, has announced to me for inclusion in my columns, that he is definitely retiring after 15 years of Council association. We wish George many years of happy retirement. Municipal elections are, taking place on November 12th. Please do not hesitate to run if you are so inclined and also it is your democratic right. The Wilsons (Harold and Marie) seem to be well visited by their family on weekends. For example, on Friday, September September 6th, Donna was in, on Saturday, Ralph and Eleanor with daughters Tracy and Stacey, and on Sunday, Barbara Barbara and Richard Saunders, and sons Allan and Scott. The Saunders stayed in Bowmanville Bowmanville as a base for their visit and called on her parents on their way back to Gananoque. In these days when there are so many families breaking up, it is refreshing to hear of children still loyal to their elderly parents, who of course thrive on the attention they get. The fall season of the Ponty- pool Weight and Friendship Club began with an opening meeting at the home of your correspondent, on Tuesday; September 10th. It was good to share summer experiences. We presented ideas for programming programming in the weeks and months ahead. There is still room for new members. Even if you are not particularly concerned about weight loss, come out and encourage us in our individual attempts. It is a good way to establish a wonderful wonderful bond of friendship with a worthwhile group of women with common interests. Both parts of our club title "Weight" (Loss) and "Friendship" "Friendship" are important goals. For more information please contact Gloria Dunford 277-2982 or Pam Molloy 277- 2078. After the meeting the group went by van to the Orono Exotic Cat World. This unique version of a zoo has been gradually developed by owners, Wolf and Chris Klose, at first, as a backup source of income to the Dog Training Kennels, which still exists. Labelling of animal cages is excellent and there are other classes of animals other than cats. The Orono Exotic Cat World is open seven days a week all year round, from 10 a.m. to dusk. This, in my opinion, is a good contribution towards attracting attracting tourist dollars to our whole area. Mention it to your distant friends and relatives. The news of bur happy Bingo games is spreading: On Wednesday, Wednesday, September 11th, a lady who spends the summers in Sandaraka Trailer Park and the winters in Florida, heard of them and attended. She was a little confused with the different games, but soon caught on and won both the last regular game of the evening, and also the "Winner Take All" game, which made it a very profitable outing for her. Ballyduff Church (Presbyterian) (Presbyterian) celebrates an Anniversary Anniversary Service on September 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Swann officiating. Special speaker is Rev. Frank Con- key. There will be special music provided. After the service, coffee and cookies will be served in the hall. Last year this lovely historic church was rededicated after restoration. Rev. Heather Smith's sermon on Sunday, September 15th was entitled "Sinking in the Storm." The main idea was that God never allows us to endure the storms of life without being with us in our need. All we have to do is keep our eyes on Him and not look around us to see the evidences of the storm. That was the biblical experience of Peter, who asked Jesus to enable him to walk upon the water, and then started to sink when he looked around him at the waves instead of fixing his gaze on Jesus. Plans are underway to start a youth group (grade 8 and up). If any adults are interested in helping with this, please call Rev. Smith at 277-2204. Also, Sunday School is in full swing and new students are welcome to join. On the Labour Day weekend, Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Payne had the privilege of having Gordon's sisters and a brother-in-law visit them. They were from Portland, Maine.
