In the spring, his class letoff balloons and his landed at Elmira, New York, USA. The recipients were cutting their lawn when Stanley's balloon landed in their plum tree. The lady wrote a lovely letter letter to Stanley and enclosed mementoes of Mark Twain country. Mrs. Bessie Dean enjoyed Saturday with Mr, and Mrs. Gamey Lycett, Andrea and Dean, Port Hope and attended attended the Fair. What a wonderful day Sunday, Sept. 15, 1985, turned out to be for Sam Brereton. After a lovely brunch at Greenwood Towers, Towers, Port Hope, with Jim and Alice Hayman, he, Marg, and the Hayman's returned returned home to find their back yard filled with about eighty friends, relatives and family. It turned out that Charlotte, Bob, Shari and Denise Vaughan, Aimee and Irene had arranged arranged a "surprise" birthday birthday party in honour of their Dad's "Grandpa's", 60th birthday. It was a marvellous marvellous afternoon of fellowship and fun, and Sam was completely completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. To round out a very special day, corn-on-the-cob, hot dogs, hamburgers, birthday cake and ice cream were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
