September 25,1985 Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker On Wednesday, September 11th, at 7:30 p.m. President Gwen Malcolm welcomed all and read from the Friendship Book a poem "Tribute to Happiness." Mabel Cawker presented the excellent devotional on Pornography, assisted by Bernice Mairs, Jean Williams, and Marion Hall. Hymns "0 Master Let Me Walk With Thee" and "Take My Life And Let It Be" were surig. Jean Williams, president of the Afternoon Unit, then introduced our guest speaker, Anita Davis, who spoke on Social Concerns, Concerns, - a most informative informative talk, and enjoyed by all present. A lively hymn, "Our Joy Is In The Knowledge" sung to a familiar tune, by the choir members, closed this part of the meeting. Business Portion In the absence of Sec'y, Barb Weir was acting acting secretary for the evening. The Roll Call - "Bring a Tea. Towel" resulted in a generous response. Neta Fish gave a gratifying report of our finances. It was decided to sell church calendars, cater for a Wedding Anniversary, Anniversary, and provide lunch following the Fall Church Anniversary on October 27. The U.C.W. will continue Christmas Boxes and Operation Scugog the same as last year. The General Executive Executive will continue on for 1986. Several notes of appreciation were read including one from Laurie (Malcolm) Wells of New Zealand. Members were reminded of the Mid-Week Event at Harmony Church, Oshawa, -Nov. 5 and 6. Fall Presbyterial at Orono, Oct. 8 and Port Perry, Oct. 9- (evening). The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction. Jean Williams conducted conducted a unique Contest which was won by Arlene Malcolm. Reading by Neta Fish - humorous and enjoyable. TTie afternoon afternoon group served a delicious lunch of cheese, fruit and a variety of biscuits and coffee and tea. Nestleton Ladies' Aid The Ladies' Aid met in the Sunday School Room, Sept. 12, with President Dorothy Ix i o presiding. A warm welcome was extended extended to those present followed by a poem and the opening hymn "Breathe On Me Breath Of God." The meaningful worship period was taken by Winnifred Davison. Business Session Minutes were approved approved as read and the financial financial statement given, by the Sec'y Treas. Cards of appreciation were sent to a Lynn McLaughlin and* Debbie McCall re Graduation from High School and University. 1986 Church Calendars were ordered. The Ladies' have an attractive attractive quilt for sale. Dorothy Lee was thanked thanked for caring for the flower boxes in front of the church which are still lovely. Caesarea Euchre Results At the Wed. evening card game a smaller attendance attendance than usual. The lucky winners were - first prize - Faith Lawrence - 87. Second - A1 Brown - 83. Emerson-Creed Re-union The annual Emerson- Creed re-union was held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the lovely old family home where Edgar and Anne Emerson reside at Nestleton. Some 35 relatives were present for the important occasion occasion from Toronto, London, London, Shelburne, Oshawa and many other points. A delicious buffet supper was enjoyed. Birthday Celebrated Our very best wishes to Amy Ginn of Nestleton, who celebrated her 87th birthday on Thursday, Sept. 19. She has been a guest with Fred and Mabel Dayes of Nestleton for a few weeks while her daughter has been away. Callers on her big day were Elsie Hooey - a supper supper guest, - son Ron and Marion Ginn, Manchester, Manchester, Mary Ginn, Newcastle, and daughter Dorothy Tennent, Kendal Kendal and granddaughter Nancy of Bancroft. On Sat. the Dayes family were home for the evening. On Sun., Fred, Mabel and Amy had tea with Frances Sutton of Orono. Caesarea Community Church A very good attendance attendance on Sunday morning morning with Rev. Charles Clarke of Port Perry, conducting the service. Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford took as his topic, "Does God Hear Us" taken from 11 Chronicles - Ch. 7. Jerry Jonkheer Jr. played for the hymn singing. Next Sunday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Clarke, Minister. Sympathy Sincere sympathy to Ethel Mark, sons Harry and Keith and daughter Lucille Gray in the pass- ingof a fine husband and father, Bill Mark this past week. He suffered for a long time and is now at rest. Bill was a general favourite with all he met. He was a community community minded person and especially loved sports. He shall be missed missed by a host of relatives and friends.
