As part of the Ontario Soccer Association's Provincial Team Program, each District Association invites players to attend winter training. For the upcoming 1986 season, this program is available for the following age groups: Boys born on or after August 1st, 1970 (under 16); Boys born on or after August 1st, 1972 (under 14); Girls born on or after August 1st, 1970 (under 16). A pre-winter training camp will be held as follows: Dates: Saturday and Sunday 5-6th, October 1985; Time (both days): Boys (under 16) 10:00 - noon; Boys (under 14) 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.; Girls (under 16) 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Place: Lake- view Park, Oshawa (Foot of Simcoe St. South). From this camp will be selected 24 players (each age group) to attend the regular weekly sessions being held throughout the winter. The programme finishes around mid-May with an Inter- District Tournament from which players are selected to attend the Provincial Camp. Visitors came to watch, sample, observe, taste and buy the many products that were being produced last Saturday at the Tyrone Mill. The donut maker was kept busy rolling out those delicious hot donuts. Others were sampling pear and apple cider or finishing off that piece of apple pie. Local apples were being unloaded into the bin by Jeff Grove and Jay Gibson. The cider press was also in full operation. Gerry Berard was demonstrating how apples are peeled and cored. He was also busy making sure his apples didn't burn and here is checking them in the fruit dryer. It was a great day to be out munching on an apple! Art Auction at Holiday Inn Will Benefit Family YMCA Now in its fifth year, this year's Art Auction is taking place on Friday, November 1, at the Holiday Inn, 1011 Bloor Street, Oshawa. Arranged by the Beaux Arts Internationale, Toronto, over 140 pieces representing the works of both Canadian and International artists, go on the auction block for the benefit of the Durham Region Family YMCA. Included in the group are watercolours, oils, numbered lithographs and sculpture. A preview of the works to be p.m. ana the auction gets underway at 8:00 p.m. As in the past, many pieces are expected to be auctioned at below gallery prices. This year's featured local artist is Maureen Remington. Other local artists contributing contributing to the auction arc Leslie Parkes, Greg Maud, Margaret Rodgers and Ron Thursten. Art can be a good investment, investment, and for first-time auction guests, this Gala Evening should be a good opportunity to learn about art and how the auction system works.
