Port Perry, Oct. 23,1985 The Toros travelled to Port Perry tonight to play the local Bantam club in an exhibition game and skated to a well earned 4 -1 victory. Although the play in the first period belonged to Port Perry, some strong goaltending by Burke Lush kept the local team off the score sheet. Dean Baumhauer gave the Canadian Tire Club a 1 - 0 lead on a goal assisted by Craig Deblois and Nicky Dennis. As mentioned before, Port Perry had their chances in the period. However, Lush came up with some big stops and the closest Port came is when he was caught out of position and went around him and took a shot at the ppen net. Defence- man Troy Mutton skated into the crease and blocked what appeared to be a sure goal. In the second period, Mark Tripp gave the Toros a 2 - 0 lead with assists going to . Kevin Flintoff and Brad Rushak. Kevin Zarosky, who replaced Burke Lush mid-way through the period continued to provide Toro club with some solid goaltcnding. Finally, while on a power play, Port Perry made it a 2 -1 game with just 18 seconds left in the period. Zarosky made the initial stop, but the Port's Warren Geer banged in the rebound. In the third, Bowmanville's Eric Janssens combined with Tony VanHoof and Greg Goode to give the Canadian Tire Club a 3 - 1 lead. Brad Rushak then made it 4 - 1 to finish off the scoring. The Bowmanville club earned their victory tonight by displaying some strong skating skating and hitting. Although the Port Perry club had some chances, the goaltending of Burke Lush and Kevin Zarosky came up with the save. Kevin Flintoff should be mentioned because of the solid effort he put in tonight, Tire Tracks: Gareth Stone and Guy Freeman weren't dressed for tonight's game. Gareth suffered a broken toe and Guy, a fractured ankle. It's not known as of this writing, how long the players will be out. Two in a Row For Bantams Bowmanville, Oct. 26 The Toros made it two in a row over the visiting Stouff- ville Clippers as they skated to a 6 - 2 win at the Darlington Arena. Stouffville struck early as they made it 1 - 0 after just 1:00 minute into the game from the opening face-off, Stouffville worked the puck into the Toro's end. From behind the net, a Clipper player fed a pass to a team- mate in the slot, who fired a shot past Kevin Zarosky to give them the quick lead. On the play, Zarosky did the splits and aggravated a hamstring and was replaced in the Toro net by Burke Lush. Less than a minute later Bowmanville evened the score on a play started by Rob Real. Real fed a pass to Mark Tripp who relayed the puck to Gareth Stone, in the slot, who's shot beat the Clipper goaltender. Kevin Flintoff gave Bowmanville Bowmanville a 2 -1 lead fifty seconds later. Flintoff, out-fought the Clipper player in the corner and came around the net and beat the goalie with an unassisted unassisted effort. Mark Tripp, then made it 3 - 1, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, on a goal assisted by Gareth Stone. Nicky Dennis and Eric Janssens combined to give Bowmanville a 4 - 1 lead. Dennis moved the puck from his own end and fed Janssens with a perfect pass to end the scoring in the first period. There was no scoring in the second, although both teams had some good chances. In the third, Craig DeBlois made it 5 - 1 just after Eric Janssens rang one off the Clipper goal post. DeBlois's goal was assisted by Janssens and Dennis. The visiting club then got their second goal of the night on a deflection. Kevin Zarosky who returned to the net at the half-way point of the game, was moving with the puck when it deflected off an unidentified player in front of the net. Mark Tripp finished off the scoring as he, Greg Goode and Craig DeBlois combined to make it 6 - 2, Bowmanville. FOR MAYOR RICKARD, Garni B.
