Bowmanville. All candidates for School Board in the November 12th election will be present. Donna Fairey, former school trustee for Ward II, Bowmanville, Northumberland Northumberland and Newcaste Board of Education, has received an acclamation as trustee of Port Hope - Hope Township area for the board. Wilt Day of Port Hope was also returned to the Board by acclamation for the same area. In Port Hope, encumbent Mayor Bill Wyatt seeks re- election with Gloria Spence and Cole Locke challenging him for the position. In Cobourg running for mayor of the town are Don Kirkup, Angus Reid, Ray Bowen and Muriel Edwards. Auberge, Durham Region's emergency shelter for abused women and children, will hold its first Annual Fundraising Dinner on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:15 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, located at 471 Simcoe Street South in Oshawa. Bob White, Canadian Director of the United Auto Workers, is the guest speaker for the event. Reservations for tables of eight are available. Here, Ron White (right) President President of the Bowmanville Lions Club, welcomes the local Lions leader to the town. OBITUARY EARDLEY MALCOLMSON Following a lengthy illness, Eardley Malcolmson, aged 69, passed away in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Sunday, October 13th, 1985. Educated at Carscadden School, Manvers Township, he was born in Darlington Township Township and was the son of Thomas and Gladys Malcolmson. Malcolmson. Previously a resident of Bethany, he had worked as a farmer and custom operator, retiring due to ill health. He was a member of the United Funeral services were held at the Northcutt Elliott' Funeral Home, Bowmanville with the Reverend N.E. Schamerhorn officiating. PETER GEORGE NEWELL A prominent, well known citizen of the area, Peter George Newell, aged 74, passed away at Sunnybrook. Medical Centre, Toronto, on Saturday, October 15th, 1985. Although he had been in hospital hospital for the past two years, his death was unexpected. Born at Oxford, England, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Newell. He was educated educated at Dr. Chalmer's Grammar School, Amersham, England, the Ontario Agricultural Agricultural College, and the University University of Toronto (Post Graduate Studies in Plant Pathology). He was married to the late Mary Beatrice Winsey on January 15th, 1948, and to Doreen Florence Dryden on July 15,1980. A resident at ■ R.R. 4, Bowmanville, Bennett's Road, for 31 years, he had previously resided in Bowmanville six years, and in Newcastle two years, after the war. For 35 years he was employed as a lumber merchant merchant (P.G.;Newell Lumber' Company, Newcastle) >' a tobacco farmer, retiring eight years ago. He was a director of the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Marketing Board (Zone 14) for 12 years, 1962-1974. He was a member of St. : John's Anglican Church, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, a past member of Nor- thumberland-Durham Tobacco Grower's Associa tion, the Rotary and Canadian Clubs of Bowmanville, of which he had served as president. president. During World War II he achieved a distinguished war record which was recorded in a recent issue of The Canadian Statesman. Surviving are his wife Doreen, sons Peter S. and Chris G., a stepson Stephen, four grandchildren, and two sisters in England, Ann Barstow and Betty Foster. Funeral services were arranged by the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, with service in St. John's Anglican Church on Wednesday. Canon A. C. Herbert officiated, Favorite hymns of the deceased deceased were rendered at the service.
