They were followed by Pat Prout and the Oshawa Seniors. Pat played the piano. Ray Godfrey was on the drums and calling the Square Dances, and Mac McLean was on the banjo. The square dancers were - Isobel Salter and Walter Dobroshinsky, Mabel and Clyde Morey, Grace Horner and Bill Kapinski, Chester Madsen and Barbara Fudger. For so-called seniors - these people could really kick up their heels. Next were the Happy Gang - Bonnie Cowle - vocalist, Ruth Cowle - Accordian, Ron Hooper - Drums, Kay Stephen - Vocalist and Stan Pachocki - piano. These people had the audience singing along with some of their favorite tunes. The show closed with a new group - never before heard of - a group of harmonica players - and what a great sound it was. They had been playing together only half a dozen times since Trudy had advertised advertised for harmonica players this Fall - but the sound was so great we felt they had been playing together a long time. I'm not sure who had the most fun - the poeple watching the show - or the Harmonica Players who were on stage. They were great. Included were Walter Woolley, Tim Ottink, Ted Miller, Ross Metcalf, Ted Mann, Doreen Lowery, Trudy Garrod and her sister Dorothy Bonathan, Ross Allin, Sid Barraball, Bill Boomhour, June Wilson. Tim Ottink also sang a song during the Harmonica part of the program to give their lungs a rest. I think I heard someone ask where the oxygen tank was set-up. Trudy thanks especially, Ross Metcalf, June Siebarth and Darla and Lloyd Lowery, stage managers. It was a great evening. WHITBY 668-3192 Don't let anyone tell you that you have to go to the city to see a good Variety Show. Last Wednesday night, October 30th, in the Bowmanville Bowmanville High School, Trudy Garrod produced and directed a Musical Variety Night that showed the audience some great talent. Performers from Bowmanville Bowmanville and surrounding areas put on a Variety Night that amused and pleased a large audience - and while they acted they were having fun. - The whole evening was great entertainment from our Master of Ceremonies Ross Metcalf's opening remarks to the last song of the evening which the audience and the whole cast sang together. Hats off to Trudy Garrod for this first venture in producing and directing a musical show. It was a big undertaking - but very well done - and we hope to see another show like this in the future. The performers were local people who donated their time and talent - the Bowmanville High School donated the auditorium for the show - and our Memorial Hospital benefited from the evening. The proceeds will be donated to the Building Fund with the amount announced later. Gladys Brown opened the musical part of the evening with some old favorite tunes she played on an organ donated by Durham Keyboard Centre, Oshawa, and her talent is always appreciated by any audience. Mac Ransberry and his young Square-Dancers were next and they did a great job. The group included Shelley Wright, Lisa Wright, Pamela Wheeler, Briar Ransberry, Kevin Farrow, Kyle Shackle- ton, Scott Ransberry, Shean Mueller.
