Cavan Electors Vote in Favor Of Nuclear Disarmament Cavan Township voters were asked to reply to a question on nuclear disarmament disarmament in last Tuesday's municipal election. There were no separate school board races or public public school board contests since both posts were filled by acclamation this year. M.J. Hobbs Happenings It's been a busy week at M.J. Hobbs. Monday, November the 11th, we had a Remembrance Day Assembly in the general purpose room. Class 82 performed performed a well acted play that was enjoyed by all. Medallions were presented to members of the girls and boys soccer teams. Both of our teams won the Durham area championship. Congratulations Congratulations to all! Grade seven and eights enjoyed a trip to the Royal Winter Fair, November 13th. Afterwards the grade 8's attended Careers 2001 at Exhibition Place. Booths were set up, providing information on a wide variety of careers. Information regarding qualifications, qualifications, salary range ,and related occupations were available. It was an opportunity opportunity for us to research different occupations, and to speak with someone who actually works in the same field in which we are interested. It was a truly valuable experience. Thanks to all the teachers and parent helpers involved. The girls' volleyball team played in a tournament in Whitby on Thursday. Even though they didn't win, they played well and deserved congratulations for their work. Career week at M. J. Hobbs wraps up Friday with a "career dance." Students were invited to dress up in a "costume" depicting their career interest. Don't forget teacher interviews interviews are coming up December 12 and 13. That means it must be report card time already. Good luck everyone and let's make our next term as much fun as the first.
