The time is still indefinite as is the name of her opponent, but Bernice's many friends here are pulling strong for her to have a great afternoon. FLASHBACK -- 10 YEARS AGO -- In the Men's Section of the Legion Dart League, the winning team consisted of Jimmy Jeffrey, Wayne Paeden, Capt. Vince Vanstone, Bruce MacDonald MacDonald and Eric Downey. BIG FISH CONTEST -- The introduction of two new classes and a new sponsor are giving Ontario's Ontario's one-of-a-kind fishing competition, the Mol- son Big Fish Contest, a fresh look for spring. Classes for. brown trout are a first for 1986, as is the sponsorship of Berkley Canada, manufacturer manufacturer of superior quality fishing tackle. Prizes and cash awards to be won this year are valued at over $45,000. Operated by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, the Molson Big Fish Contest Contest runs from April 15th to November 30th each year. AIR SHOW -- On June 28 and 29, 1986, Canadian Forces Base Trenton will once again present Canada's premier Air Show. The Golf Week begins May 17th - May 25th with the winners, on a special handicap formula approved by the Canadian Professional Golfers Association, coming together in the Tournament of Champions held at Huntington Golf Club on July 15th. Play is open to all golfers male or female whether a weekend "duffer" or serious competitor. To participate, golfers pick the course of their choice, pay $10 for a Timmy score card plus green fees if applicable, and may enter as often as he or she likes at $10 a round. The scorecard represents $2.00 to the Pro Shop for prizes and $8.00 to The Easter Seal Society. Secretary, Carol Roberts Whitby Downs Bowmanville Soccer Squad On Thursday, May 8th Bowmanville Bowmanville M.S. Contracting Minor 1 Mosquitos played at home in their 4th exhibition game against the Whitby Soccer Soccer Club. With "low" enthusiasm enthusiasm rampant, Bowmanville players lost the first half and consequentially the game. After the opening goal by Whitby, Richard Bateman scored Bowmanville's first goal. The aggressive visitors completely dominated the half with 3 more goals and con- . tinuous attack. Exceptional effort by Richard deserves mention as he repeatedly fired the ball forward. The advance line could not get the passes around Whitby's outstanding goaltender. After a coaching "pep" talk the second half went about face inBowmahville's'fsvoUr;"" Net minding and defensive efforts by Michael Suess, Evan Davies and Brandon Osmond kept Bowmanville in a scoring position. Andrew Laing (recently returned from vacation) played an excellent half. Trever McDonald scored ' twice in the half. The first goal was off a pass from Neil Gèrrits. The second was off a rebound fired at the goal from Chris Yeo. Bowmanville's desire to play almost paid off, but, Whitby edged the game 4-3. On Saturday, May 10th the team travelled to Varsity Stadium in Toronto to witness a "world class" soccer game between Canada and Wales. Let's hope the boys not only enjoyed themselves but were able to pick up on some of the finer points and skills of this exciting sport.
