Weater was perfect for this kind of activity. On Saturday, May 17, Truman Truman Austin held a birthday party at his home for son Paul. Grandsons were present to make it a family gathering. It's good to be home again after a month's absence. It was especially great to come back and find the grass cut, tulips and narcissi still blooming, blooming, the flowering crab a thing of beauty enhanced by occasional brown thrasher, humming birds and oriole, and above all to hear the welcome sound in neighbours' voices. The orthopaedic hospital hospital in Toronto is a wonderful place where I left a piece of my anatomy and came away with replacing hardware. I did appreciate the care there and of good neighbours at home including Barbara Croft who kept the world informed of local happenings here. Golden weddings are always special events, so friends of Harold and Verna Austin were delighted to celebrate with them, theirs held on Sunday afternoon; May 25th at Welcome Welcome church. Harold and Verna spent most of their lives in Wesleyville where they attended attended school together. They continued to live there in a new home built at the time of their marriage on May 25th, 1936 until the area was purchased purchased by hydro. Their house was razed and they moved to a home on No. 2 highway in the vicinity of Morrish. All these years they have been good neighbours and still continue to give a helping hand to their church and wherever needed. The popularity of the bride and groom of fifty years ago was shown by the hundreds of .people who came to offer their congraulaitions and good wishes. Harold and Verna received their guests part of the time while standing and were presented during the afternoon with a provincial plaque by Howard Sheppard, M.P.P. with all good wishes. Tea table and smaller tables were decorated with carnations carnations and tea was poured by Mrs. Hazel Tufford, Mrs. Vera Austin, Mrs. Muriel Cornelius, Cornelius, Mrs. Wanda Henderson, Henderson, Mrs. Lena (Henning) Coleman of Toronto, Mrs. Frances Howarth of Toronto.
