In the championship game, Bowmanville was pitted against a highly-rated Cambridge Cambridge team. Glen Wagg started the game and pitched superbly until arm trouble in the 3rd inning. It was the battle of the left-handers to that point. Bowmanville had built up a 3-1 lead in the 2nd when Marty Burgess walked and stole 2nd. Matt Doughty singled, moving Burgess to 3rd and then stole 2nd. Catcher Catcher Mike Flynn drove Burgess Burgess home with his first of two singles and he then stole 2nd. David Real walked to load the bases and Glenn Wagg walked to score Doughty and Donohue singled to score Flynn with what proved to be the winner. Jason Kiely came on in relief of Wagg in 3rd and pitched two and one third innings of baseball baseball before he had to give "way to Stephen Brown because, of the 27 outs in a day rule. ' a ' Brown was making his first appearance as a pitcher and told everyone he was so nervous nervous his knees were knocking but he didn't show it on the mound as he struck out 2 batters in 6th and weathered the 7th despite a serious threat by Cambridge to rally. With 2 out a double put the Cambridge Cambridge side back in the game but an intentional walk put the force on at 2nd and Mathew Doughty went deep in the hole to backhand a ground ball and step on 2nd to end the game. Earlier in the 5th, Kiely had walked and Derek Kaufman was brought in to run for him. Derek promptly stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a ground ball and scored the insurance run on a passed iball. Final score Bowmanville 4 Cambridge 2. Jason Kiely was named the winner of the M.V.P. award. The team was to travel to London on the weekend for another tournament.
